Based on a true story
I adore Tom Hanks and this was a movie recommended to me by several friends and acquaintances. I found it to not bee all 'action packed' but it was a very engaging story with good character development. It is based on a true story so that helped stay engaged with all portions of the movie.
I know Hollywood took liberties with some aspects of the movie (when don't they - really?) but it was a well told story of history that many may not know about. We enjoyed the movie a lot. Vollständige Rezension lesen

Bridge of Spies, a bridge worth crossing and recrossing.
The story is compelling and cleverly written. Plus, I think an actor would be mightily challenged to top the performances of both Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance in this film, not to mention the supporting actors, all of whom were very good.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Wonderful era piece
Bridge of spies is a wonderful retelling of a fragile period in Soviet- US relations. The quality of the production, along with the depth of acting and storytelling is truly refreshing in a time when Hollywood tends to produce canned, tasteless products. I highly recommend this movie. I remember...
As a kid growing up in the 50's and 60's, I saw a lot of history in the making, this story being one of them. The tensions depicted are pretty accurate. As children, we were perpetually scared. The friction between the U.S. and the Soviets was always present. The incident of the pilot shot down only further intensified the already cool state of affairs between us.
This was all a precursor to the Cuban missile crisis and the Bay of Pigs incident. This is one of the sparks to the escalation of a potential nuclear war.
Great character acting, particularly by the man who played the Soviet agent. Terribly convincing. Tom Hanks turns in his usually good performance, too.
This movie is among my top ten now. It has been some time for a recent movie to reach my list of favorites.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Powerful and inspiring!
Wondering acting! Loved he characters. The Russian spy was particularly intriguing! Tom Hanks was magnificent and inspiring! Standing man!
