Sharp learning curve, but ultimately very gratifying

Body Harvest has the sharpest learning curve (time needed to learn how to play well) of any game I have ever played. Indeed, I owned the game for years and played for well over 50 hours before I realised how to succeed in it. The task of learning may be too much for some. But for those with perseverance, the game provides a great experience.

Body Harvest has one of the largest worlds of any game I've played: it is simply enormous. The first level of five, Greece, is a bit larger than the size of a average game's world. Partly because of this, the game takes a huge amount of time to complete. But it is a worthwhile experience. The game is largely shoot-em-up, and players get to use a variety of weapons, from machine guns to howitzers, to engage the enemy. But there are also a variety of (often difficult) puzzles to solve, and the chance to meet several interesting characters on the way. Additionally, the game allows the player to command vessels ranging from fire trucks to planes to ships during the course of the game.

Body Harvest is a very dark game. After the first level, Greece, it becomes rather desolate, with rainy Java and snowy Siberia providing two good examples. But the battles and puzzles are engaging and the storyline is well-developed. If you can devote the time to learning how to play properly, you will be gratified and rewarded.

Great Game, So-so controls

For some reason I can't find anyone to tag team this game with me. Is it because the game is not as great as I feel about it? Well, idk. The only real complaint I have with this game would be the excessive bare space in the environments and the inverted shooting. Otherwise, I am a die hard fan of this one honestlyVollständige Rezension lesen...

Classic that holds up...kinda...

Body Harvest has been called the precursor to the G.T.A. line of games, and in way that's correct. This game spans over 100 years, five areas in the past, all in an attempt to prevent aliens from harvesting the human race. You play as a Super Soldier, and since the game is non-linear, you can go anywhere and do anything! The graphics are early 3-d polygons, so its a bit rough around the edges. All in all, this game is pretty cheap and can deliver hours and hours of just plain fun!Vollständige Rezension lesen...

An old but fun gem

One of the better 64 games mainly because of the open world environment. You can enter buildings and interact with containers as well as npcs. Vehicles are in the world to be used at your disposal. An early 3D GTA style game where you save people from insectoid aliens. A must try or replay for Nintendo 64. Controls take some getting used too. Otherwise, good game recommended.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Nintendo 64 - Body Harvest

Body Harvest is an old school video game that is very much fun to play. Although I've read through the ENTIRE instruction booklet, this games seems to be tough when it comes to figure out what to do next. It's almost like having your own Johnny Quest cartoon to play. Even though you get just one player, you do get PLENTY of chances to rejuice his power. This game's graphics are fine - even though I've heard others say they didn't care for them at all. I also like the music that starts up when these mutated alien bugs come in for the kill. An hour can easily pass when you play Body Harvest. A good game to own.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

GTA Premie :-)

I've always loved this game. Made by the same people who ended up making Grand Theft Auto later on.

Cool graphics, somewhat extensive platform that you can use any weapon or vehicle you find. You can go into any building you come across & some are actually needed to be.

Great n64 title. A rare gem actually. :-)

Retro GTA style time traveling alien invasion action game with rpg elements

Sure the graphics are a sludgy mess with odd controls and a problematic save system but seeing the DNA of what the grand theft auto series would later become is fascinating. It’s a hugely ambitious semi-open world alien invasion action game with tons of vehicles to pilot and light rpg elements. Way ahead of its time.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Body Harvest n64

As a Grand Theft Auto Fan, I really had to go back and pick this game up because Pre Grand Theft Auto 3 this was the game that Rockstar Meshed with the GTA series to make GTA 3. So this is really a non story prequal in game play and mechanics.

When I heard that, I had to check this game out. I looked it up on youtube and what I seen was really cool.

From my point of View this game is a mix of all of these games.

#1 GTA 3: in Game Play Mechanics and 3D shooter and vehicles.
#2 Metroid: You look like Samus from Metroid, you fight aline Bugs and bosses.
#3 Godzilla: you fight giant monsters and can kill them with planes and numerous vehicles.
#4 War of the Worlds you defend your home from giant aliens
#5 Sliders/Stargate you go back into time and travel through a dimensional portal to different periods to save the people from the horde of aliens.
#6 Sims: You go into houses and you can turn on and off the lights and you go around the places and you can talk to folks,.

From what I've seen and played I am surprised that I missed this game. I say this game is a must have if you are a fan of any of the above that I mention because this game has it all. The graffix might not be as expanded on as todays games but come on, this is a Rockstar GTA 3 and above type game on the n64, don't you want to play the game that was the brain child for GTA 3? Well you won't be disappointed if you do. This game is fun and I really like it.

Old School N64 Game: Body Harvest

To be honest this game is way below the standard graphics and game-play of today. That being said, this game is still fun. It is just amazing how back when it was a current release we thought a game like this was great. I've played FPSs with better graphics on the N64. This game is nice because of the open world exporation even though it is sparcely populated with people, explorable building, and sights to see. I almost want to say it is like GTA because you can jack vehicals and shoot people. Levels are saved directly to the cartridge. Unfortunatly there is no way to save progress in a level to be completed at another time. I don't have houres and houres to devote to gaming so not being able to save progress makes it hard for me to advance in this game.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

An excellent title

Body Harvest was a video game that I grew up since the Nintendo 64 was first released. The coders paid some attention to and applied special details to the game that made it both enjoyable and historically accurate. I enjoyed this game as a child and still today because of it's difficulty in terms of progression, and for the time of release, a less linear game than was typically available. All of the zones are open-ended, and it does a good job of masking that it is guiding you along a pre-set path. All in all, for it's time it was a fantastic game that I enjoyed very much, it encompassed driving, RPG elements, puzzle-solving and also Adventure/Action. It was certainly ahead of it's time, which is why I still enjoy playing it today.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
