Thank God for Cesar!!!

I HAD an out of control Pomeranian! He is so cute and he is my baby. I let him run all over me to be perfectly honest. I made excuses for his behavior like: "That is just how Pomeranians are!" "Oh, that is just his personality!" "It is because he was a Rescue dog!" Well...Shame on me! I have learned a lot from Cesar's books. I now own ALL of them! I was to the point where I was trying to decide if I could keep my Pom, after five years of drama. I decided to get Cesar's books and give it a try. I am fully committed to being the strong calm assertive person that my Pom, Taz, needs now and things are progressing wonderfully! I made so many mistakes! Feeling sorry for him, baby talk, bribery, screaming at him, letting him do whatever he wanted as long as I had some Peace for a few minutes, letting him lead on walks. Taz had Separation Anxiety through the roof, Dominance issues, jumping issues, barking, whining, begging, peeing on my bed when he was mad because I left him, etc, etc. I was literally keeping him because I was scared if I tried to find him a new home someone would have him put down! I Love him but he was making me Crazy and I was crying every day! The Vet said he is healthy and he just needed more attention! Sure! Let me quit my job and see if being homeless Helps! When I watched Cesar on the television I always thought "Great! You can do it but I can not. You must have some magic skill!" I have had dogs in the past and have not had issues training them and they were well behaved. This time around though my youngest child is moving out and I made Taz my replacement baby. HUGE mistake! I am working very hard to correct the error of my ways and Taz is responding extremely well. He is learning that I am the Boss, not him. He looks to me now to see what I want him to do. Be the Pack Leader by Cesar Millan

I like the book because it gives you a different approach to training dogs to be suitable for socialization. It gives lots of examples on how he turned around otherwise unstable dogs. I bought the book to try to learn other methods of training other than the reward system. I am just trying to get many ideas and try to use various ways with my Newfoundlands. I encourage people to check out several possible ways of training. This book seems to be more on energy and lots of time walking or running with your dog.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Another great book from Cesar Millan!!

I bought this book on CD and listen to it over and over as I drive to work. I makes me take a hard look at myself to see how what I do effects my dog. This book is very insightful and helpful. I like that he refers to other books and research that back up what he is talking about. I've also purchased some of the other books he refers to in order to explore further. It's also clear that some bad habits (mine and my dogs) will time and take patience to overcome. At least I'm on the right path!Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Awesome book, a must read for any dog owner!

Cesar Millan's, "Be The Pack Leader" is an absolute must for any dog owner. Very good advice from start to finish on how to make both you and your furry friend happier. The funny thing about this book is, it is very often not your dog's fault for his/her misbehavior, but yours. Favorite paraphrase from the book: When someone points a finger at someone else, that same person has three fingers pointing back at him/her. Cesar Millan really knows what he is talking about. He combines practical strategies that he has implemented with his dog work throughout his entire life, with excellent dog-psychology. He is fun to read, and presents the information in an easy-to-understand manner. You will not regret buying his books. This is a great leadership book. A MUST FOR ALL DOG OWNERS

As a foster mom for a small dog rescue group, watching Cesar's TV programs and DVDs has helped us tremendously with our work with the dogs. I often share these DVDs with adoptive families so they can get off on the right foot with their new family member. Cesar is a calm, relaxed teacher who is an excellent example of how a true leader should behave. A must have for any dog owners' library!

I already had "A Member of the Family," also by Cesar Millan, but this book was more back to the basics, which was exactly what I was looking for. I think it's a great book, especially if you've watched The Dog Whisperer and are familiar with his techniques. I have 3 dogs, 2 of which are about 8 months old, and his methods are working great for me. Even our older dog has greatly benefited from what I've learned.... I can't wait to learn more as I read this book.
