Lesser Byrds
Ballad of Easy Rider, a lovely tune, longer version also included. Terry Melcher was a good producer, helped on Beach Boys too. Gunga Din great, Gene Parsons had a real groove you could feel on his work. Great singing. John York, underrated bass player, great vocal on Way Beyond the Sun. Solid player, good harmony singer, great bandmate, worked with Gene Clark also. Oil in my Lamp, both versions great, I prefer the alternate because it's foot tapping, great vocal and plying by Clarence White. His ax may be in Marty Stuart's caring hands, but it's too heavy and large to play, being 1 3/4 size thick. Don't ever complain about a heavy Parsons-Green Tele, they're light by comparison. Deportee, very moving, one of McGuinn's best vocals, another tender Clarence lead, great groove by Gene, never overindulgence, subtle nuances. One of my favorite Byrds albums, after all, it didn't have obnoxious Crosby on it.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
