Still an excellent movie!
I seen it when much younger, I loved it then, my favorite part is the playing of the music as the armada of Hueys flew in to the Village! But with 49 more minutes, this is even better now!

The movie is based on Conrad's "Heart of Darkness," but modified to the Vietnam War rather than Congo. Many Vietnam vets rate the movie overall as the best representation of what it was like to serve in that war--not the story per se, but in terms of highlighting the many absurdities inherent in fighting that war. The Max.....

A masterpiece!
Excellent film. More like a dream sequence than a linear film. Great acting. Interesting plot. Unique take on the nature of the Vietnam war.

Great Movie
I saw it when it came out and wanted to see it again. I was not
disappointed. Still a great movie. Very long but keeps you engaged.

The additional 42 minutes of running time add a lot of depth to t he story.
