Amazing Film

To start, the performances from the actors are phenomenal (especially from Djimon Hounsou and Matthew McConaughey). The subject matter is unsettling. President Van Buren is treated in a complicated matter as he is shown caving in to the South too quickly. (Which can make sense to some as he didn't show too much anti-slavery feelings until much later in his life.) The trial is thorough and played out realistically. Any potential narm moments such as Cinque's courthouse speech to set him and his fellow Africans free are made charming in this film and bound to provoke tears in the eyes of a few moviegoers. And it's scored by the same composer and director of Schnidler's List. That right there can make this film worth checking out.Vollständige Rezension lesen
