American Graffiti, when it was released in 1973, demonstrated that writer/director George Lucas had a talent for filmmaking that was well beyond his years. Covering one night in 1962 Modesto, Calif. (Lucas's hometown), American Graffiti blends the music, cars and fashions of the day with several interwoven stories of young people who face the difficult transition from adolescence to adulthood. Many members of the cast, which includes Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, Charlie Martin Smith, Paul le Mat, Candy Clark, McKenzie Phillips, and a very young Harrison Ford, got their first big breaks in this low-budget film — a project that, at the time, Universal didn't understand or know what to do with. They get it now, of course, and their Collector's Edition DVD sports very good source print of the Lucas-approved cut, the original Dolby 2.0 soundtrack, the original theatrical trailer, textual supplements, and an 80-minute documentary on the making of American Graffiti with many insights from the cast and crew, producer Francis Ford Coppola, and Lucas himself, who talks extensively about his struggles to get American Graffiti made and how he sees the film in light of his subsequent career. I have always been a fan from all. The stars in the film including the disc jockey/ janitor Wolfman Jack wanna take a trip back in the days of the 50's then get this film....

Back to the past

Anyone that grew up in the 50's will see themselves in this movie and remember a better day. It's entertaining in and of itself but nostalgic as well for the great generation as they are the ones depicted graduating from high school. I would recommend watching More American Graffiti after seeing this. My Thoughts on American Graffiti

What I like about the movie American Graffiti is all the old cars. As a member of the National Street Rod Asssociation and the proud owner of a 1937 Pontiac 2 door Slantback Sedan, that has been Pro-Streeted I think you can understand why.

Also, I think all of us have at one time or another have known a John Milner-in our lifetime........ If you're over 40 that is.

Many of todays young people have never had the enjoyment of just going out on Friday or Saturday Night or even Sunday Afternoon -and just Cruise the Streets in your best Rod----See and Be Seen !!!!

American Graffiti brings back all those memories to me of days gone by.

American Graffitti, good movie, lot of fun

I always enjoyed this movie. Fun to see the great old cars, listen to the music which is just as much a character in the movie as the actors. This movie has a lot of 'Big Name' stars before they were big stars. Harrison Ford, Ron Howard, Richard Dryfuss, Cindy Williams. Paul LeMat and Charles Martin Smith. Set in Southern California in 1962, you spend the last night of summer with these characters and have fun cruisin'. As a Semi-professional Disc Jockey, I really enjoyed Wolfman Jack.

If you're into Classic cars and classic music, this is for you. The TV show 'Happy Days' was inspired by this movie. Its also George Lucas' (Star Wars) first commerical success as a movie director.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

this has got to be the best early rock and roll movie ive ever seen,it has all the best 50's and early 60's music known.when i was a little kid in manhattan in new york city,i was passing the edison movie theater on 103 rd street and broadway when i looked at the pictures on the outside of the place showing what was playing inside and i saw all those hot rods and old time cars and i went in to see the movie and i was blown away by this movie,i mean if you like 50's music this flick has it all and i love the scenes and how they make you feel as though you wish you could be there and hang out in the strip and meet up with your friends and go to the burger joint and have a burger and coke,but the best part for me was the drag races i never saw a drag race before that and i was hooked,this movie is the one movie that ranks number #1 in my memories of movies ive seen.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

No better movie and soundtrack about the early 60's. The beginning for some great careers. Saw it 15 weeks in a row when it came out and still have the bad habit of repeating the lines while watching with someone else. What could be worse for a new viewer. Classic

I feel like words can’t describe this movie accurately. Everybody has their own perspective about this film because it all depends on how they can relate to the characters/settings.
