This is an awesome movie written by Alex Haley in his memory. The actors and actresses playing in this movie were phenomenal. It's a movie that entails a black woman’s struggles with slavery and how she was not acknowledged because of her skin color and was not suppose to be able to read back in those times. The movie struck me because as an African American light skinned woman as Jasmine Guy and her daughter Hailey Berry experienced what has happened for years with the fair skinned women sleeping with the Master and not being recognized because of the color of your skin and hiding the truth because this was unheard because you’re black. This movie is very realistic when the black man was Lynched by the Klan’s in so many ways has destroyed the families for decades. History has repeated itself in a different version today where black men are incarcerated and the single parent is left to raise the child alone. Then the saga continues with meeting someone who understand you and try to be there for you and your children and until then you realize this is where you belonged in the movie with Danny Glover who went through a lot because Queen was scared and bitter. This movie has sad and happy times, but the characters in this movie played their role and we have to say this is reality back in slavery time and has manifest into other issues with the same pattern. This is a movie for everyone to enjoy and even those who never experienced slavery inform your children that this is what happened to slaves because others had the power to control and degrade others just because they could. Love this series. One of my favorite's!

I absolutely love this series. I wanted this series because I lost my copy year's ago and wanted my kids to see this. I watched as a kid and I believe my kids need to know the struggles we fight til this day. Vollständige Rezension lesen...

A Surprise Story

A wonderful story to go along with the original Roots Mini-Series! Queen is Alex Haley’s Grandmother and it is very interesting!

Unbelievable

Disc 1 has a lot of scratches on it but the 2rd disc works perfect doesn't make sense

What a treat!

Alex Halley tells a most intriguing and fascinating tale about how a beautiful half white and half black child grew up to become a woman with substance even through all of her many trials and tribulations in that day and age.
Halle Berry is great in this saga. I have to give her 5-STARS for allowing herself to participate in such a painful exploration of slavery times when things were not as they should have EVER been in our history.
Hats definitely goes out to Alex Halley!

Queen

It was the last movies for Roots.Loved itIt explained about Alex Haley's mother and how he could finish the story of how it came about and where he came from.

Best scenes are missng

It's hard to imagine someone could have destroyed the essence of this story by deleting the parts of the story that were crucial to understanding Queen. This is a travesty. All of the scenes where she endured the suffering and mistreatment of trying to survive in a black/white racist country are missing; scenes where she struggled to define herself, find the real meaning of life and love, deleted. This is a lousy edition of a beautiful movie. I am disappointed and searching for the complete version as seen on television.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

This book and movie have been passed down from me to my daughters and grand daughters. They are in our library to stay.
