Alan Wake Will Keep You Awake

The long wait has finally come to a close! It was 6+ years of waiting, push-backs, rumors of production abandonment, anticipation, frustration, and now...gameplay!

Alan Wake was developed by Remedy, whom are not clueless to making a action-packed game (see Max Payne).

To those who haven't owned an Xbox 360 that long, or those who may not consider themselves a "gamer" only need to know one thing about this game...it was originally slated to release with the Xbox 360 launch; yeah, way back in November, 2005. There was delay after delay after delay with this game. Nobody really knew if it would ever see the LIGHT of day. Well, it finally arrived, and it's a spellbinding game.

Since I'm reviewing the "Limited Collector's Edition" I'll briefly talk about what comes in the box set and if it's worth the high price.

In the Collector's Edition you will receive the game, the soundtrack (which is actually good and fits the game nicely), a bonus disc, and a 130 page hardback book titled, "The Alan Wake Files", which was compiled by Clay Steward from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm not going to go into the book, but I will say that it's a rather good book and will probably make you Google the name Clay Steward...if you haven't already done that.

For those who just Googled Clay Steward, welcome back.

Now is this Collector's Edition worth the purchase? Honestly, if you haven't really followed the game's timeline for the last 6+ years, every step of the way, I would say, no, it's not worth it. If you like game mysterious, enjoy reading, and enjoy music, then it's probably worth purchasing. If you're a big Alan Wake fan, then definitely pick it up. It looks really cool in it's book format display.

Game Review:

Alan Wake is more than a jump out at you game. It's a game with class. It has the graphics to please the eye, music and sound effects to please the ears, and a storyline that tames those with A.D.D.

It's one of the first games that takes place 90% in the mountains. Which switches up the typical inner-cities, warehouses, or space locations that most horror/suspense/thriller games place us in.

The game has six episodes and it's laid out like a TV series with you the main character of Alan Wake, narrating the game almost like Kevin from the "Wonder Years." However, the game rolls like a movie. Don't be surprised if your friends actually get sucked in just by watching the game.

Total actual gameplay for Alan Wake is anywhere from 12-16 hours; which is actually rather good for a Non-RPG/Shooter game.

The strong point of the game is its ease of controls. It's not robotic, choppy, bogged-down, etc. The characters actually transition real nicely. When you hit Right Trigger the gun shoots on the first attempt. This in my opinion is the deal breaker or maker for a game. I'm not slow, so I don't want my characters to be slow! Gamers are only as good as the developers.

The biggest letdown of the game is the voice to audio synchronization. I can't nick-pick to much; I mean this is a video game and not a frickin Blu-Ray movie, but at times it's rather too noticeable for my liking (It's nowhere near as bad as, Rise of the Argonauts, so don't freak out).

Such a lovely game by Remedy.

Man this game flew under a lot of people's radar's. Extremely interesting experience with a downright amazing soundtrack and atmosphere. Poets of the fall anyone?

Different than any other...

This video game is for the older audience, not just for content, but I do not believe that the younger generation would understand the game. Remedy went really deep with this one. I have read the book that came with this edition and it supplements the story even further. For those of you that are willing to take the slower parts seriously, there is some really deep story in there. For the faster paced parts, they are very unique and exhilarating. This game arrived in a awesome new condition I have been looking for this forever well worth it and I am glad I finally have it.

Best Game

This is not only the best game to play but the best looking game, on Xbox. Applause to Remedy for creating such a beatiful photorealistic game. It is as real as it gets. Words can't explain how beautiful it looks. I wish it was free roam though but, what can you do? Great game, worth buying.

The game is excellent, has an awesome story behind it and the game play is challenging whilst fun as well. The collector's edition itself is worth the buy, seeing as it's one of the better CEs. Excelent game... the history is awesome.
Tha quality of graphics es on of the best i've ever seen in a game.
I would be playing it for hours and hours.
