Drops right in to replace 2-core Athlon II on ASUS motherboard.
I bought the 4-core Athlon II to replace an existing 2-core in order to experiment with KVM (kernel-based virtual machines) on Centos 7. I also bought some inexpensive RAM, a larger SSD, and a 2-port NIC. The combination has enabled me to build 3 VMs and learn more about KVM, which comes free with Centos and Fedora.
Be careful when dropping the CPU into the ZIF socket. I bent a pin and it took me a few minutes with a magnifying light and some tweezers to straighten it back so I could more carefully drop it in. I appreciate the fact that some heat sink grease was supplied. I cleaned my existing heat sink with alcohol and it worked fine with the new CPU.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

An easy solution on a budget.
Rather than build a whole new computer with similar performance; decided to upgrade the processor from a dual to a quad core processor of the same speed (100% increase in capability) as well as the same for the RAM. It was cheap, affordable and easy to do since the processor is an older one, compatible with the motherboard I am using, a great one too. I did not have to worry about tinkering with bios settings, just a simple update to the software which was done automatically and everything worked perfectly. Still a solid CPU on a budget
I'm upgrading from a similar 2 core, since that seems to be the minimum you can get away with these days, for some applications. The process of upgrading was a piece of cake. I installed in onto the same AM3 board Ive used ofr years and haven't run into any problems with it running out of power or crashing, even though it only has a 4 pin CPU power connector. It even runs cool with my old CPU heat sink. Ive tested it with ConvertX2DVD 5 for hours and the thing never even gets warm (70F-80F). In my tests, I'm getting about 180 FPS for a single movie, and around 70-90 FPS - processing 4 at the same time, wow.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Cheap upgrade
Was about to toss an old computer and decided to see if I could find a faster CPU for it. Ended up tripling the speed and a ridiculously low cost. CPU was pristine and shipping was fast. Thanks!!!

A lot of power for little price.
Bought and installed this cpu to replace a standard 2 core unit in an Acer desktop with an Nvidia chipset. The base CPU number was 6.1 for CPU and Memory, the 4 core unit took the CPU and memory numbers to 7.3, much faster overall.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Great upgarde
This is a good way to "upgrade" your PC if you have a 2.6 or so CPU. Makes a NOTICEABLE difference in response!

Quad core replaces dual core
It replaces the Athlon dual core (x2 250) but you have to have a 95 watt heatsink and fan. My internet download speed almost doubled.
