A Nice Compact Collection of Great Moody Blues Music

I have been planning to purchase this 5x CD set by The Moodie Blues for a long time. I finally found a well enough priced, brand new, sealed set for $19.14 (incl s&h), and placed my order.

HOWEVER: I was disappointed with the manufactured packaging when I opened it. It is a really bare bones packaging with every CD slipped into its own cardboard envelope tho', with the original vinyl album's cover image reproduced for each envelope. Most upsetting is the total absence of any lyrics of the songs.

When I compare this 5x CD set with the 1967- 1970 Blue 2x CD set from The Beatles in its Digipak format, then my disappointment becomes even more real. The Beatles 2x CD set cost about the same.as the 5x CD Moodies set; BUT The Beatles digipak not only contains ALL the song lyrics, but also much information about The Beatles + many great photos of The Fab Four. And all is in a very sturdy booklet

I wish the manufacturers of this Moody Blues Set would have produced 2x different issues of this Moodies set: a budget version like the set I obtained; but also a Deluxe set which included all the song lyrics plus some band photos and song performance history on hit parades - like The Beatles digipak does; because there will be for at least another 30 years, music afficionados who will always want to own the best pressing of their favorite recorded music, and who will not switch to downloaded or streaming music.

However..... I always regarded "On The Theshold Of A Dream" & "A Question Of Balance" as The Moody Blues' best albums; and especially the 2nd one as their #1 album.

The song "Question" is just a musically very advanced composition, and in my view one of the top 25 songs recorded after 1965 to this present day in 2023.

Other songs in my Top 25 for these specific years, include: "Eloise" - Barry Ryan, "Crusader" - Chris de Burgh, "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen, "The Carnival Is Over " - The Seekers, "Atlantis" - Donovan, "Ticket To Ride" - The Beatles, "The House Of The Rising Sun" - Frijid Pink or The Animals' original recording, "Hotel California" - The Eagles, "When I Paint My Masterpiece" - The Band, "Marley Purt Drive" - The Bee Gees, "Release Me" Engelbert Humperdinck, "Can't Stop Loving You" - Tom Jones, "Come What May/Apres Toi" - Vicky Leandros, "Lloran Las Rosas" - Christian Castro, "Write On" - The Hollies, "Jealous Heart" - Connie Francis, "Call The Man" - Celine Dion, "I Really Must Be Going" - Joan Armatrading, "Volvere" - Enrique Iglesias, "A Chi Mi Dice" - Il Volo, "Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone" - Cinderella, "Power Windows" -John Berry or Billy Falcon's original version, "The Driver" - Charles Kelley w Dierks Bently & Eric Pasley, "Cry" - Faith Hill, & "A Saudade E Uma Pedra" - Zeze di Camargo & Luciano.

But go ahead and buy this great collection of Moody Blues 5x CD set: The other 3 CDs in the package are: "To Our Children's Children's Children"; "EGBDF" or "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour"; & "Seventh Sojourn"

Music, Ma’am, just the music.

This is a little box set of five CDs. No liner notes that the original albums may have had, just a simple CD with the music. Each sleeve does have the track list, so it is easy to find what you want.

Cost per track is phenomenal! But if you really want all the original artwork, buy an original vinyl album from back in the day.Vollständige Rezension lesen
