Satisfying movie, if you watched "2001"
The minute is only a good movie because of the plot. The directors work is only mediocre because the beginning has to many unnecessary scenes. Later the director screw up really bad as he put lots of dust on the space ship Discover. The ship has no gravity so why should there be a layer of dust? It gets even worse as the scientist decides go from one ship to the other during acceleration and braking makes it. Here could have done it right after the, only few seconds lasting, acceleration and and would have had no problems because there wouldn't have been any inertia and it wold have been an easy trip. Anyway the movie answers all the questions you had at the end of "2001" and the ending sends a great message. If you didn't see "2001" the movie is only half as good.Vollständige Rezension lesen

2010 Dated But Still Better Than 2001.
I liked this film because it is much more entertaining that 2001. It has a lot of classic stars in it that work well. 2010 is dated because it takes place it came out in the 80's when the US and USSR were still in the Cold War. This movie explains why HAL did the things he did, and not because he was psychotic, what HAL did in 2001 makes perfect sense after you watch 2010. They did a great job, it's one of the very few sequels that are really good in comparison to the original.Vollständige Rezension lesen

It's a great movie, not as good as 2001, but, I did not expect it to be, however, it stands on its' own as a goo sequel.
I enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it, it has good acting, good characters, and leaves you with a feeling of hope and wonder.

Very well made. I had seen it before, and now I even enjoyed it more that when I saw it the first time.
The sound effects, the picture itself is very well made. Though it is a since fiction movie it brings you to imagine how the future in spce can be or look like.

Cold War Classic
A lot of fans of 2001 deplore the sequel, but not me! If you are a Cold War native, then you remember what a big deal it was (like Climate Change today only scarier because nuclear bombs pointed right at you). This movie captures the overwhelming political tension of that time perfectly. Performances of note: Helen Mirren as the stubborn Soviet Captain who makes an unfortunate decision, smart-aleck John Lithgow, trading panic attacks with his Soviet counterpart during a spacewalk, Bob Balaban as proto-Hipster Dr Chandra is somewhere between insufferable and kick-ass (like most IT guys), And Keir Dullea reappears as Dave Bowman, last seen approaching the Monolith... in a scene that still makes my hair stand on end: "Look Behind You" :-O Vollständige Rezension lesen

Great sci-fi film!!!
Great sci Fi film. I consider this the last of the intellectual sci-fi films. A sequel to 2001, followed american- Russian mission to find out what happens to discovery. Highly recommend!!!!!
