Excellent kit with an important history

Hasegawa's B5N2 Kate is a high quality kit. The instructions are clear and the fit is perfect on every piece, which can be tiny at times. The instructions are in English and Japanese and clear to follow. The box is strong and the sprue was sealed in plastic. The decal sheet is excellent and is sealed in a separate plastic bag. The pieces have no flashing. The plastic takes paint well and the decals show no signs of silvering. This would be considered for someone with an intermediate skill level. However, all modelers will find this 3-seater level bomber a welcome addition to their showcase.

It advertised 110 pieces, but there are 90 pieces of the plane. I suppose the others include the instruction manual pages, decals, and box. The color chart includes things like Nakajima Interior and Nakajima Green. You'll have to search those out. It is a shame that there are no pilots or torpedo that accompanied this kit. That is why I didn't give it a perfect rating. The General Commander's plane sunk the Oklahoma with its Type 91 torpedo during the raid on Pearl Harbor in 1941. You can easily make one with a window shade control rod and some styrene.

Matsuo Fucida led the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He fought for the Imperial Japanese Navy as an aviator for WW2. This was his plane from which the message went out, "Tora, Tora, Tora!" After the war, he was treated badly by the Japanese people for having not won the war. Fucida was handed a pamphlet written by one of the Doolittle Raiders who was kept as a POW throughout the war. In the pamphlet, Fucida read about forgiveness. It led to him reading the Bible for himself and learning how when Jesus was being crucified, He asked God to forgive the people. Fucida gave his heart to Jesus who was powerful enough to forgive him the hate he had experienced. Fucida became a powerful speaker in Japan and the U.S., even telling his story in Billy Graham Crusades. He preached Christ's redemption message available to all. This model plane is small, but in many ways it's symbolic of the horrors of war, but that God's grace, through Jesus, is life-changing. Vollständige Rezension lesen

This kit contains a 1/48 scale armor ;piercing bomb, like the one that sank the Arizona.

This particular High Altitude Bomber was responsible for destroying the U.S.S. Arizona on Dec. 7,1941, using a armor piercing bomb converted from a battleship shell. This sinking was responsible for the majority of U.S.military deaths at Pearl Harbor. Maybe look at something else.

The parts a little chunky. Not the typical Hasegawa I am used to. Fit is OK. Detail is very good. It's better than the old Nichimo but that's about all I can say.
