Onkyo TXNR656 7.2-channel Network A/V Receiver - Black

Music to my ears

I received the Onkyo TX-NR656 one day earlier than expected. I eagerly set it up (speaker wires were already in place) and ran the accuEQ which measured speakers for placement, crossover, phase, delay, and loudness. I chose to adjust the loudness for the rears (personal preference), but left everything else that was automatically set by the receiver the same. Great sound. I have to raise the volume more than my previous receiver (TX-NR636), but I can still rattle the building. Dolby Atmos and DTS-X (the DTS-X after an easy download and update) make movies come alive. The unit will even attempt to creat three dimensional sound from older movies. I watched the movie "Contact" in the DTS Neural:X mode. When Jodie Foster rode the device through the worm hole it made the roller coaster ride through space much more "there" than previously experienced. Thrilling. Of course movies coded in Dolby Atmos ( and much more scarce DTS-X) create an incredible sound stage. The unit boasts 8 HDMI inputs, one in front,four of which are ADCP 2.2 supporting HDR and 4K @50-60 Hz. No prroblems using my Ultra HD Blu-Ray player. Music form my desktop inputs through the digital optical S/PDiF port( there are two) and sounds great. Good features with great price.

Unit arrived early, even during the holidays. Packing was great - no damage. Setup was easy. Sound quality is good, comparable to my previous Marantz. Has enough power to drive bookshelf speakers in a medium sized room.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Covers all the bases for a receiver. TV, Movies, music, internet, phono, zone 2

Worth it for the DACs alone for what I Paid. Hook up a Ethernet connection and all your components and enjoy. speaker connections are confined so have some dexterity, or get banana plugs. Onkyo app for IPhone great for net connection as well as zone 1 & 2 control. Remote requires some patience. If you have superhuman high fidelity ears, or need more power to blast garbage out beyond your own listening area, you may need to upgrade. Excellent Mulitmedia Receiver

I upgraded my old Technics receiver with this unit. Really like to features that this receiver has, WiFi, LAN Connection, 7.1, Powerful and very clean amp. I've been very pleased with this receiver.

onkyo reciever NR-TX656

I replaced my 16yr old surround with this onkyo 7.2 reciever its a very good reciever and connects to my tv and devices very well..Its very powerful sound.My next reciever will be the onkyo 11.2

Super value

This was an "open box" unit, sold at a fraction of the original price. Yet, it came with all accessories, no blemishes, full factory 1yr warranty. In fact if there wasn't an open-box sticker on it, one would think it came directly from the factory.
Performance: I also own a higher rung model (TX-NR838). The NR838 does have a "fuller" sound & supports more audio formats (i.e. lossless WMA). However, $235 for the TX-NR656, with all its features, is a steal.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Good deal!

It looks good and sounds great. Just a little behind on wireless technology. The Bluetooth and AirPlay functions take about 90 sec to connect. Otherwise, super powerful and easy to configure and use. (wish the remote buttons lit up tho...)Vollständige Rezension lesen

Onkyo NR656 AV Receiver

Excellent Sound, Easy On Screen Setup Instructions, On Screen Individual Speaker Calibration for sound balance, Can be used for 5 Channel, Supports 2 Powered Woofers if desired. Onkyo TX-NR656 Rocks!

Found this receiver amp while researching units that can take up to eight HDMI inputs and plenty of power for my 7.1 speaker setup. The TX-NR656 that I bought was open box online from a big box store and was undamaged and shipped in it's original box, and it really does what it was advertised to do! And I like the Bluetooth interface so that I can play all of my music from my smartphone. And the sound output learning function is truly something to see in operation. The speaker outputs are now always balanced for my room layout.

This is a great machine when compared to units at twice the cost for the supported functions, and I would recommend it to all.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Nice controls with remote. I like the remote set up, where I can switch from cable to streaming, or my CD player and just get sound from my speakers

If you have 2 speakers or 7 speakers, this receiver can play it all. The remote is easy to use. I can switch from Netflix to Cable with the remote. It makes my old , rebuilt JVC speakers sound NEW. Enjoy.Vollständige Rezension lesen
