You get what you pay for

Pros: the axe head is solid high quality steel that rings like a bell when struck. Not sharp, but easily sharpened. The haft is solid and stained well. The haft straps are riveted onto a flattened section of the haft, as they are supposed to be.

Cons: the axe head and haft strap are separate. The "straps" are simply flat, decorative bands that butt up against the head and don't secure it at all. However, there is a fix for this. If you've the skill and inclination, you can make your own haft strap by bending and drilling some strap iron, pull the top two rivets from each side, take the head cap off, and rivet the new strap to the decorative straps as base plates and reattach the cap to make it functional. As it is, the head would likely break off if used to strike anything.

In addition, the studs in the haft base are loose and not flush, giving it a half finished look.
