Five stars for “Boy in Kyiv” biography of Ratmansky

Excellent biography of Alexei Ratmansky. My slight complaint is that, while it thoroughly describes his early choreographies, it just mentions - barely describes - his latter works, particularly his recreations of historic choreographies. I traveled to most of his reconstructions and was truly looking forward to reading their descriptions. It’s rather telling that the cover photo is of Ratmansky working with Berlin ballerina Polina Semionova, the star of his BAYADERE reconstruction in 2018 - a work that is barely mentioned (just in passing). However, the book’s overall effect is very strong and compelling. Somebody else will have to analyze and describe his historic works in another tome.
