A bit of a mixed bag - some wonderful detail, but some issues with accuracy

This is the only P-40B available in 1/32, so if you want an early Tomahawk, this is it. The kit is well engineered, and the fit is terrific throughout.

Some of the detailing is inaccurate - the elevators are not accurate, the cockpit has a lot of detail pieces, but is way too shallow, I bought and after market resin cockpit to replace it. Some of the raised detail, like the access panel on the rear fuselage are too thick - if scaled up, they would be raised 3 inches in full size, not flush. The fabric detail on the control surfaces looks like ribbed metal, not fabric. For some reason the kit has both ailerons drooped downward, instead of in opposing directions as they would be in real life.

The best part of the kit cannot even be seen after completion - the Allison engine is really well detailed and includes all of the radiators, oil lines, fuel lines and coolant lines, but is not visible at all. The landing gear is detailed as well.

The only other complaint is that since Trumpeter is a mainland Chinese company, they are not allowed to sell kits with the Nationalist Chinese markings, so if you want to finish the kit as a Flying Tiger of the AVG, you have to look for after market decals.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

typical trumpeter modeling fun

this is a typical (meaning great) trumpeter kit. well molded, plenty of detail,as i expected. some research of the subject may be helpful for paint color selection,which will also teach you more about the subject in general, making it a learning experience.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Well worth the money but could stand some upgrades at least in the cockpit - about normal for kits these days.
