It works very well, you just need use it a few times to understand how to get the most accurate readings
I purchased several lemon trees, they are out side for the summer and get plenty of natural light and rain so moisture isn't a problem now. When I move them indoors for the winter and put them under artificial light is when I will need to check frequently for drying out and I don't want to over water them either. I have a several analog moisture meters, the kind you buy in big box stores, and they never lasted long than a couple months. The readings were always erratic. With this digital meter, I get consistent measurements every time. I have only owned it about a month, but it's looking good so far. Accurate moisture meter
I've had several moisture meters that failed. This appears to be well made. This meter uses a battery which is replaceable. I would suggest inserting a pencil in the soil first as not to damage the meter. The readings seem to be in keeping with the amount dampness of the soil. Worked OK with an occasional blip of zeroing out on its own. Based on it's price, it's an OK deal.

Sometimes it is hard to feel the moisture content of my Bonsai tree, as the soil is covered with moss. So this device made it easier for me.
