It's Loose, And You Don't Know What It Can Do!
Intruder has been a mainstay of my game library for decades. One of the early microgames suitable for one or two players, the easy to carry game board, manual, and playing pieces store neatly within a ziploc baggie.
Based obviously on the settings and drama of the science fiction horror phase of movies and fiction in the late 1970s and early 80s, Intruder is a game of survival on a research space station, where an alien of unknown abilities is loose within the station, and steadily killing off the station staff. As the game progresses, the creature matures and improves, and the response options by the surviving staff broaden. (The staff player can't kill the monster or evacuate the station in early sections of the game, and the creature might or might not be impervious to what responses can be thrown at it.) A rule system that includes hiding what the player may find as it moves about the station heightens the dramatic aspect to the game, as well as recreating the tension felt watching those movies where the creature may be hiding anywhere around them.
Not over difficult to learn, and can be quick or drawn out depending on dice rolls and player decisions. The largest problem I've had with this game is keeping my friends from eternally borrowing it.
If you enjoy movies like Alien, Leviathon, or Deep Star Six, this is a game for you!Vollständige Rezension lesen
