.....Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click.....

I rated this 4 stars for 2 reasons (1) due to the low light photos quality which is not great. Even after adjusting the ISO and the white balance it was still lacking. (2) There is also a proximity sensor for the small viewfinder and if you get your arm to close to it or anything else it turns off the larger viewfinder, kind of annoying (not a deal breaker for me) and I don't think the sensor can be turned off. Despite the adorementioned comments this is still a great camera. I've used it predecessor the P520 for 2 years everyday Capturing roughly 3,000 photos with it, I hope the P610 is up to the task! One thing that drew me to this was the adjustable large viewfinder, make life much easier when taking photos in a portrait format. So far so good!Vollständige Rezension lesen

perfect for a step up in digital

The camera is easy to use and just what i was looking for in getting the quality and a little more advanced in taking pictures... I can use the auto feature and add tweeks to that ... not as overwhelming as going from a digital point and shoot to a more advanced camera... love it...the the pictures are crisp and the zoom is unbelievable!!Vollständige Rezension lesen

Great Buy...Great Camera!

Love this camera! Very straight forward to operate. Doesn't take much time to learn how it operates. Took it to the Grand Canyon and had fun taking lots of pictures. Not a bad one in the bunch. Love the electronic view finder and I don't need to wear my eye glasses to use it...BIG Plus!

Light weight and great balance even when you are using the zoom. I did a lot of research before purchasing this camera and I am very pleased. Can't wait to take more pictures.

Excellent 'starter' bridge camera

Excellent 'starter' bridge camera. The 60x telephoto comes in handy The controls and feel are very comfortable.
Lots of features. Learning curve is fairly steep if you don't have DSLR experience and the Instruction manual is only available online so not really handy if you need help while in the field.
Small aperture range and not much room for adjustment when shooting in full Manual
Grain starts to be noticeable above ISO 800.
Auto-focus can be extremely slow (especially when you need it not to be!!) but metering is excellent.
DOES NOT SHOOT IN RAW!! So post production options are somewhat limited.

Compact system for 65x magnification. No need for a DSLR

There are enough features in this light weight camera for me that eliminate the need to buy a DSLR which requires lens changes and carrying bulky, heavy equipment around. I had done that in the past and wanted something more practical. So I decided to buy this camera shortly before going to Iceland. I also purchased a UV filter, a polarizing filter a lens hood and an extra battery with charger. I ordered a neoprene case which is very compact and can store the camera safely in a bag or purse. The zoom was unbelievable and pictures were sharp even while shooting in a moving vehicle using the zoom. Downloading the pics via wifi (app required) to my phone was a little tricky for me but it worked great. I am a Nikon fan all the way back to 35mm photography and never owned a lens with 65x magnification. The largest lens I owned was a 300mm and it was quite long and heavy. The price of this camera was a very good considering all of the features. So for an amateur like myself, I could not be happier.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Best all around camera you can buy

More features than I can list in this review, but I have been in photography for 40-years and numerous brands and Nikon cameras over the years and nothing else comes close. Ease of use and image quality is off the charts. We have a YouTube channel and this camera is what we use for 95% of the videos. On cool mornings with no mirage we have videoed to 2,160 yards and video to 1,000 yards weekly at competitions. The zoom is massive and even with using maximum digital zoom the videos are good, on 60x optical, its like you are standing there. Movable display screen is easy to use on a tripod. This camera purchase was for a spare unit and we will probably buy a couple more since this unit is obsolete and was replaced and the replacements for us are not as good as the original. There are aftermarket batteries available with almost double the amp hour rating and will last longer on shooting video. Just a fantastic camera.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Long zoom in a fairly small, light package with lots of features

The P610 is the smaller brother of the P900, which zooms out to an incredible 2000mm. But here's the thing - if you don't need the full 2000mm, the P610's 1440mm is still very long, while the camera is much smaller and lighter.

The camera has some auto type modes, but I use it mostly in manual (and having 2 dials is very helpful for this) as well as program and shutter priorities. I use the Fn button to control ISO, but usually auto ISO is pretty good, and you have a large variety of options you can assign to the Fn button. Colors and color balance are good, stabilization is very good. The EVF is a big plus for me - I'm a viewfinder shooter. My images are turning out higher quality in lower light than similar pics I've seen from other users on Flickr and dpreview, so there seems to be some sample variation.

I do wish Nikon had given the P610 and P900 RAW support, but the JPGs are pretty respectable. And while this is fairly small for a superzoom bridge camera, it's not going to fit in anyone's pants pocket. Since I don't put cameras in my pants or shirts pockets, not a problem, but if you do, this isn't the camera for you.

If you need to shoot really far away objects or high birds in flight, the P900 might be the better camera for you, but I must say the P610's price for the Nikon refurbished price is really a great value. And overall, if you don't mind shooting JPG, this is a fun camera with plenty of zoom.

Best bang for the buck in point and shoot cameras....find one new while you still can.

Let's face it, for your average up close shot in good lighting, a Samsung S7 or a new iphone will beat any point and shoot and nearly match a DSLR these days, so you are buying this for what reason? Zoom. And maybe having zoom plus the ability to do nicely at other things in decent lighting...but zoom.

This thing has awesome zoom, and the IQ is good at full zoom, and the stabilization is very good...you can handhold at full zoom and get good pics. Don't believe the continuous FPS of 2 (constant for 200 shots setting). You don't have to settle for that or the 7 continuous for one second and then a wait while the buffer recharges. Go get a REAL card...I chose the Sandisk Extreme Pro in 32G...It does probably 4-5 shots per second for as long as I've held the button so far...not sure how many it will do total, but plenty. The feel is great, and solid. The controls work well, and the menu items are sufficient without all the extra silly settings like Canon and Panasonic love. Image quality is either normal or fine for example....just fine would have sufficed...that's many hundreds of pictures on a 32G card...no need for seven IQ settings.

Getting a filter on the threads is TOUGH, and takes real patience, but can be done properly...back off and then on until it seats correctly, do not force it on and cross-thread. The case is a bit small, but those are under $20 so who cares? Most agree pics on this are better than the SX60 at full zoom, it's only real modern competitor in the price range. Wifi is nice to have, and easy to use. Don't hesitate, just find one and buy it.

Great Camera

This camera will take good quality pictures that you can frame and hang on your walls to share with your family and friends. Better than a cell phone but not as heavy and cumbersome as a DSLR. This camera is a perfect compromise between the two. It's small and light weight but has a good zoom and adjustable settings.Vollständige Rezension lesen
