great bobbins
These are great bobbins, easy to adjust, and won't cut your thread. Both will hold most sizes of thread and wire, I would recommend the standard for longer hook shanks, but I mostly use the shorty and standard interchangeably. Quality Bobbin with the ability to fine tune.
I ordered my first bobbin and liked it so much that I had the second one ordered within 3 days. I like the easy setup and the ability to adjust the thread tension for each of the different types of thread. This is the first "drag type" bobbin I have used and I thought I would give it a try....so glad I did, I would recommend it to anyone who is considering an upgrade in their bobbins.Vollständige Rezension lesen

High quality bobbins
The Rite standard bobbin is a very easy to load, adjust, and use while tying flies or wrapping guides on rod blanks. Tension adjustment is precise allowing for smooth unwinding of thread from spool. Size is good for a person with larger hands. Unit has a solid feel even when pulling thread tight there is no noticeable flex. Solved a problem for me
Easy to set up and use. Iʻm making assist hooks and tying the pair of lines coming from the washer together was a problem. One is supposed to spin the bobbin but I couldnʻt get enough tension on the thread to make that operation work for me. Rite Bobbin (standard)
As a long time conventional bobbin user I was skeptical of the claims. But have, after only being a short time user, become a Rite bobbin convert. They offer fairly decent quality construction, excellent thread control, are easy to manipulate in your hand, and although rudimentary, the "tension control" feature actually works quite well. I now own three Rite bobbins. Two are ceramic barrel models but I have grown rather fond of the tapered metal barrel half hitch model. I also use two Stonfo bobbins and the Rite bobbins, although slightly lesser in construction quality, work equally as well. When I tire of swapping thread spools from my conventional wire bobbins I can see a few additional Rite bobbins in my future.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Best Bobbins Available!
I now own 4 Rite Bobbins: Two of the 'Half Hitch', a 'Standard' and a 'Shorty'. I spent many hours reading and watching Reviews before buying my first one. Buy the 'Half Hitch' first as your primary bobbin and you will be very happy. Add, more as you go. I'm glad I got it
I've been tying flies for 50 years and always enjoy trying new tools. The bobbin is different...I think I like it but I haven't used it enough to fully commit. I like the tension adjustment, the ease of installing thread, the ceramic nozzle, the weight in hand. I'll continue to use it for a year or so and then I'll be able to give you a real answer. Rite ceramic bobbins (standard & shorty)

Love It
I started with the cheap bobbins you typically find in any tying kit and I never liked bending the arms to adjust the tension. The tensioning on the Rite bobbins is super easy to adjust and get dialed in, which has meant far less break offs while exerting a bit too much tension on 8/0 threads. I also appreciate the ceramic tube, it seems to be far more forgiving than the metal ones I've had. I'm already planning on buying another because the one down side is it isn't as easy to switch out threads as a standard bobbin is.Vollständige Rezension lesen
