Very cute, but my cat was frightened of it at first. When she finally approached it, the catnip scent was not strong enough to hold her interest. She has not gone near it again. There is no cellophane wrapper on the item. It is open to the air from the time it is manufactured until it is delivered. Over time, the catnip scent obviously fades. Also, the instructions on the package say that the toy should be used only with supervision.. I assume that is because pieces may come off and choke the animal.
