Useful tool for getting true running rolling stock

I purchased this tool to assist me with converting a number of my old Lima wagons to run with RP25 scale wheels and have found it does this as well as correct poor running on other manufacturers wagons, provided the problem is with the bearing cup behind the axel box and not in the axels or wheels themselves.

If you remove the wheel set insert the reamer and rotate it two or three times in each direction with a little force applied to squeeze the axel boxes together it removes a small amount of the plastic leaving the bearing clean and true.

A word of warning don't take too much out as axel and wheels will then flop around between the axel boxes.

Finally the only fault I can find so far is the white plastic sleeve the steel tools are encased in is a bit slippery when being used for a few wagons at a time. If DCC Concepts remanufacture any more I would suggest they design the sleeve with a non slip surface perhaps some grooves to prevent slipping.

Cleaning up axleboxes

Well made tool, but not easy to get good results. On Bachmann bogies (which often need this treatment) you need to apply considerable pressure to the outside of the axleboxes in order to get it to cut.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Axle bearing reamer
