Excellent bench mount barrel vise

This worked perfectly for me! Really saved the day when I needed it!

I had an issue where the barrel extension came loose from the barrel that was still in the upper when trying to remove a flash hider during an AR upgrade.

I clamped the barrel vise to my bench using standard F clamps and took the entire upper and threw it into this vise. I was able to remove the flash hider and gas block allowing me to get the barrel nut and barrel off of the upper. Once that was done I was able to re-secure the barrel extension to the barrel and rebuild the upper.

Good vise and quick shipping

Wasn’t sure but needed a barrel vise for a Springfield 03 and a couple of savage rebarrel projects. Worked well. Rosin and wiping down the barrel with alcohol or acetone is a must. Came with two sets of really thin jaw pads. One set wore out so I made a set out of thick leather I had. Clamped well on a light sporter taper and varmint taper so I can only imagine it would work even better on something like a Palma or full taper barrel.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Stock barreled action

Bought this for a stock barreled action. The action was so stubborn, even with cheater bar, the barrel would spin with the leather inserts. Well to my surprise, the leather scorched and ripped because of that. Then I tried it without the leather, worked perfectly, but marred the barrel a bit. I'm sure this would of been great on a barreled action that didn't come from factory with all sorts of gunk and locktite in the threading. But disappointed, because paid more then a 21ST century or viper barrel vise that would of been the same thing if I wanted a metal to metal contact area. Works great for me as I used it to remove flash suppressers and muzzle brakes. I use extra leather that is not furnished with it that I have that is rough but not smooth. Plus, painter's tape wrapped around the barrel and muzzle device but not overlapped. As is aids to prevents slipping in the vice and marring or scratching of the muzzle device when putting a wrench on it.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Built good, just get some non slip product to put on it

Does not hold as well as advertised, slips on a thinner barrel. Have not tried a thicker barrel yet though. Running out of rosin prob didn't help

Useful Tool.

Very useful tool, but the leather designed to protect your part can tear up and mar your finish.
