This book is where it all began. Leads into the Zone by the nose, closes your eyes, spins you round and gives you a shove. No anomaly this; survival is on you.

Well written with intriguing characters.

This is a very well written book with an easy reading style to it. The storyline is involving and the characters become more appealing as the story progresses. A very good read.

Great title.

If you have seen the film (stalker) this is the book, when alien visited earth they left artifacts scattered around, this is known as the zone, creating a black market for the articles.

Compelling.

A masterpiece of SF. The writers deftly convey much of the imagined world in few words. The main character is cynical and resigned, but the overall effect is compelling. I did not want it to end.
