Technics Flagship Amplifier from the 90’s
Manufactured in Technics heyday what we have here is a stripped down no nonsense version of the A909 and A900s pre and power amps built into one case. No flashy light show or VU meters. And it’s all the better for it.
It uses the same core components of the famous MOS Class AA power amplifier circuit combined with the R Core transformer in the power supply.
The class AA circuit runs hot when pushed but this is normal for Class A design. The virtual battery option is built in rather than being in a separate preamp.
This amp has power in spades at 90W RMS per channel. It sounds good too, use decent speaker cables and interconnection cables you will benefit from excellent sound quality.
Alas Technics no longer make these products today but if you find one then I would recommend you snap it up.

Top Build - Great Sound
I bought this amp way back in 1997 & it has been in constant use since then & has never failed. Build quality is outstanding, sound is excellent although to some ears it may be a little on the warm side. Technics SU-A900MK2
Have owned 2 of these.
I have owned about 20 amps over the years and these are a good safe bet.
A safe bet meaning they will suit many systems and the sound is non fatiguing on the ears.
They have plenty of power, good body to the sound and a reasonable sound-stage.
I have run this through marantz 63 ki cdp and its good enough to let it shine and sound v good.
I would say rather than buy and make a mistake or mistakes buying a average amp, these are very good if bought for around £110-£130Vollständige Rezension lesen...

common problems.
I have 2 of them and 2 tuners gt 550 .They have problems all.The amplifier (has the same schematic of 1000 pre+power for 90%),has problem of protection .Work only when the power is under 50watts and depends of source.The tuner have problems of location the stations(auto) and is a very common problem in them.Y friends ,better buy amplifiers and other components which uses only transistors and no ics..Vollständige Rezension lesen...
