Frog and hair not properly adjusted
My backup bow broke and I needed something quick, just in case. For this low cost, how could I go wrong. I was sincerely surprised that it worked at all, but it played quite well. One big problem, which is probably unique to this bow--I can not fully tighten the bow, so it is just a little lose. Outside, the bow is so lose, that is unusable. I suppose, this is just a lack of quality control. I could take it to a luthier 25 miles away or perhaps send it back. Either way it is cheaper and easier to just order another one and hope that the frog and hair are properly adjusted.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Very decent bow for beginners!
Bought this bow so my son and daughter have their own rather than using mine. The cost was quite low which met my needs to not be a big Loss if it got broken by accident. It arrived and only needed rosiness up. Wood straight, horsehair clean, good knob tightening. It is lighter than expected which is also a plus. A very nice violin bow.
I found this bow to be easy to use and plays a beautiful tone. Nice and straight as well. It is made for a stable hold to play the notes easily and with a nice sound. Surprisingly nice!
What a great bow! I've an intermediate violinist (took lessons for 12 years). I have a decent quality violin and a decent bow, but I'm building a little DIY violin and didn't dare use my expensive bow on it. So I ordered this bow. Then when it arrived, it was so nice, that I didn't want to use it on my DIY violin either! AMAZING AFFORDABLE BOW
It's a very amazing bow, the price may be cheap but it isn't cheap quality at all. I used this bow with tonica rosin and strings. The result was amazing, and it produced a very nice tone and no scratch at all. The eye of the bow (the circle part in the frog) is a solid circle instead of the parisian target style that the picture shows. Not a big deal as it's just for looks and has no effect on sound. Beginners Only
Knowledge not money will only buy you a better bow. The workmanship is amazing for $20.00. The materials and real craftsmanship are terrible. It will only make a good violinist worse. If you have a violin with a bass bar so stiff the top should be used as a cutting board, If you have a violin with strings so tight they're pulling the neck out of the body, this bow is the perfect musical disaster to compliment your violin. Let your beginner use this bow for about a month. If they still have the desire and curiosity to play, and the will to get better, get them better equipment and some music lessons. Otherwise throw it out (It is almost all biodegradable). Instead, get a set of drawing pencils, maybe a hockey stick or a set of make up and try that instead. Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Yes and no bow
I'm not a beginner, in fact, I work on violins and sell them. I am looking for decent bows that are affordable to send out with the violins I build.
I ordered this and waited a month for it to arrive, the delay was mostly due to USPS. First bow sent arrived broken due to poor packaging, and that was a shame because it appears to have been a better bow than the second.
The slide is not Abilone and the frog is not ebony. The frog is a painted brazilwood. The horse hair is not high quality and the hairing is poorly done. With regular use, doubt the hair will last 6 months.
The bow shaft is cut to thin, especially towards the tip. It has a lot of bounce when changing strings and flexes to much during a heavy stroke to counteract the bounce. The flex has weird effect on the sound.
The finish is poor on the second bow, perfect on the first. Its rough and poorly done and even has a fingerprint on the tip.
The bow weight is light, and the balance is good but requires a heavier pressure than necessary. The thumb pad is a loose rubber and slides around. The winding is to far forward.
I would reccomend the bow for a cheap beginner violin or vso. I would reccomend it to someone wanting to remove the winding and hair in order to rewind and rehair.
I like the sound and potential this bow has but due to the thin cut of the shaft and the excessive flex when bowing, it will most likely end up hanging on the wall as a decoration. That's a shame.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

So Good I Got TWO!
I was pretty skeptical because this bow cost so little. But I was very pleased when it arrived and it was of such good quality! SURPRISE!!
Not bad considering I know nothing about bows or the violin. I will now be buying another because it is broken.
No fault of the bow...my fault!
For handing it to my 11 year old grandson.
I heard him say "is this how you do it Popi"? And...before I could grab the bow, he gave the tensioner one>more>TwIsT.....and....
....POP!
The bow snapped! OH MY!
BUT...it was such a good buy...I'm going right back and getting a new one! Only this time I will tighten the bow for my little buddy ;>)
