Stop! Hammertime
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich GTA is what Red Faction: Guerrilla is as a game in a nutshell despite the obvious differences in setting and theme.
What sets this game apart from GTA is that its main focus is on demolition and breaking things. The tutorial mission puts a sledgehammer in your hands and instructs you to beat the crap out of buildings with it. Almost every single piece of infrastructure in this game is destructable and the freedom allowed in destroying them is somehow way more fun than it ought to be. Its this reason alone that makes Red Faction such an enjoyable GTA clone.
I reccomend Red Faction if you're into those free roaming sandbox games. Seeing as its a budget title now, you'll get your money's worth at @$20.

1 von 1 finden das hilfreich How this game recieves any priase at all baffles me; Kane & Lynch is a remarkably poor game with controls and important gameplay features that are obviously all kinds of broken and buggy. Major features like hiding behind cover so you don't get shot and killed are designed in such a lousy way, you're lucky if you can get it to work. Even if it does work, there's still a 50+% chance you'll still get shot. Commanding your partner/squad is another major game feature, but the controls are poorly thought out and the AI is stupid and unhelpful usually getting killed when told to do something. There's just a laundry list of things that Kane and Lynch: Dead Men does wrong that basically makes it leprocy and HIV/AIDS on disc. It really is terrible. The quality is so poor, its scary. Bad enough that Kane and Lynch is easily the worst of its genre. There are other games out there that do the exact same thing so much better.

R-Type Command
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich its a really weird take on the R-type series turning the classic shoot-em-up into a pretty basic but interesting strategy game. What makes this a unique strategy game is it includes signature features of the R-type games; you can deploy forces and attach them to your fighters to grant them special attacks or have the force go out and attack independantly. Fighters also have charge beams just like in the normal game, but you can kill your own dudes with them if you're not careful. You're also tasked with harvesting resources and finding technology to build all sorts of crazy varations on the original R-type fighter. The stages are also varied as well. Some of them the usual sprawling maps found in most strat games, and others have been made in tribute to original shooter taking on the appearance of a side scrolling stage. Once you complete the game, you're rewarded with playing as the Bydo forces.
Below all these features is a pretty boring by the numbers hexagonal based strategy game. R-type Command isn't a bad game, but it doesn't go much beyond average. It certainly breaks the mold a little as strategy games go and if you're looking to play something different you can't go wrong with this game. Personally, I'm enjoying it quite a bit only because of the nostalgia and the interesting quirks R-type introduces into the strategy genre.
