Are Strings Just Strings?
I bought a new guitar, hand build by some guy in Romania but playing live was told on a couple of occasions it sounded a little harsh. So I used my usual fix which is a set of Martins .Phew! It now sounds as good as any acoustic I have owned in the past. (and there have been a few). So don't stress yourself about tone, just fit martins.

A Straplock is not just a strap lock
There are many strap locks on the market, some better than others. These little beauties are just lovely. Do the job perfectly, while looking nice as well as professional. One small piece of advice, If you decide to take them totally apart for any reason, make sure you remember how to put them together again. Yes I advise these as an affordable, safe option for your loved guitars.
