OK for calls, but emergency alarm function useless - so not worth the price
Bought for an 80-year-old for its emergency alarm function – but that’s useless! – here’s why: 1) EMERGENCY-ALARM FUCTION ..(a) doesn't work - cos it texts then rings 3 numbers that you input to this function, but it stops when it gets to an ansafone! – so, as everyone’s phones have ansafone, someone's gonna find a text or voicemail saying that the caller needed immediate help a while ago! - alias it's almost completely useless! - but I can see there's nothing the manufacturers could've done to get round this. ..(b)(i) it warns people not to input 999 as an emergency number - but it completely fails to tell people that this is already pre-programmed into it on UK models! (not into the emergency button but into the “SOS call?” that appears on opening) ....(ii) it informs people that, when the emergency call function is activated, the phone switches to speakerphone - but it completely fails to inform people that the emergency function, once rung, can't be switched off by the user but has to be terminated by the other end! ....So when I naively/stupidly pressed for “SOS call?” when I'd not input any emergency numbers, to see what it'd do, I was mortified to find that not only had I rung 999 but also that I couldn't terminate the call & so had to get them to terminate it for me! - I'm lucky that they didn't fine me for wasting their time! NOTE THIS COULD EASILY BE DONE BY ACCIDENT! ..(c) it allows input of an emergency text of 161 characters - but ....(i) because of its extremely low processor-power, it takes ages to input the emergency message, & because of its lack of all 4 usual navigation keys (has 2), it takes ages to edit the msg ....(ii) it doesn't have any default emergency messages to choose from, which it needs re above 2) TEXTING ..(a) its limitations in 1ci above make texting extremely slow & frustrating ..(b) predictive text ….(i) only has 2 of the usual 3 options! - has either all lower case or all capitals but amazingly doesn't have the usual option of a word starting with a capital & then continuing with lower case (as is of course needed for starting a sentence & for names). ….(ii) no option for inputting new words! ..(c) I did like that it displays the predicted words to choose from in a line that can be easily navigated with the 2 navigation buttons left/right 3) SYMBOLS GIMMICK - it has symbols to navigate the first part of the menu & only 1 symbol is shown at a time / per screen, but this just makes it much slower - a list would be much quicker & more helpful, as is done with the later options past the initial menu 4) GOOD POINTS ..(a) has large text, better for people with long-sight ..(b) green-background option is easier on the eye (no brightness control) ..(c) texting – as 2c above – & I like that it double-checks whether you want to send yet (or send+save) - this is good cos other mobiles have a tendency to send unexpectedly when you only wanted to choose that symbol or word etc. but pressed OK instead of the space button! (Samsung), easily done! (hence why this phone gets 2 stars instead of 1) - but I don't feel that this makes up for the extremely slow texting - the processor’s so slow that, by the time it pops up with the option you've clicked on (several seconds), you can think it's ignored you & so can have clicked twice & then it does a 2nd thing but that’s unintended! - the over-slow processor really is worse than useless! ..(d) It's good for making calls - but I don't feel that that makes it worth its price

adequate mobile except for v.poor battery life
BATTERY LIFE - I've fully charged & fully discharged this mobile many times now (had it a month) & so it should now be at max. charging capacity but it still only holds enough charge for max 3 days (if not used except for sensing if I've got a new text or call) or usually 2 days (if used a little) which is very low compared to the 9-12 days I usually got from my Samsung GT-E1190. TEXTING - BAD - it won't let me highlight+correct a word I've already entered to correct it; correcting entered words requires deleting & re-typing (& yes I do have the full manual in English - the sellers kindly gave me a link & even offered to send me a printed version! - well, to the SGH-ZV60, which is close enough) GOOD - it has a bigger memory for inputting new words (for auto-text to pick up afterwards) than my previous Samsung mobile OTHER - I've not used it for anything else except a couple of calls - I got it to use Three's incredibly cheap 321 tariff - but I'd not've done so if I'd realised the battery life was going to be so incredibly low, which I find very inconvenient - I've got to get a 2nd charger for when I'm away at weekends, as I don't wish to take my only charger & then accidentally leave it there, because then I'd not have a useable mobile till the following weekend, due to its battery going completely flat in 2-3 days with minimal use!
