No card bracket: just fine with me!
The good thing about not having a card bracket is that the card bracket stupidly has no provision for air flow, so I'm happier without it. I can hack one with air openings quite easily.
The only funky thing about this is the ackward placement of the two SFF-8087 connectors, which effectively point up if the card is mounted vertically, or to the right if the card is in a PCIe riser card (normal hand right angle). So the cables can be a little tight, but honestly who cares.
It uses less power than other cards, but uses more power than simple cards like the rocketraid cards. HOWEVER, this card can address up to 256 devices when used with a SAS expander card (only 8 devices when going direct attach like us), so that's an important difference if you want to control over 8 drives with just one card.

1 von 1 finden das hilfreich There are two types of Pentium-M Centrino single core processors: 400MHz FSB and 533MHz FSB for socket 479 (socket-M). This processor has 2MiB cache and is for 533MHz FSB motherboards, so make sure you have a chipset that supports that. I don't! My mistake, but possibly I'll track down such a mobo because of the faster possible memory speeds and more up-to-date features like SATA.
Process works on 400MHz FSB chipsets, but clock speed is then 1.6GHz. It's better than the older 1.6GHz chips though, because of the 2MB cache.
