Old School MP3 player

I bought a 30Gb one of these with a dead battery and a new battery, changed the battery and upgraded the hard drive with a 60gb drive I had lurking around. It takes a standard 2.5" IDE laptop drive and you don't have to do anything special. So I now have a 60Gb Zen Mp3 player, it is a weighty item and it sits well in my hand, the controls have taken a little getting used to as they are mounted on the sides of the player, but they do fit comfortably into your hand when you are holding it. I love th eplayer, the sound from it is very very good the battery life is brilliant and it is exactly what I would expect from a company like Creative. The construction is very solid with a thick plastic chassis and aluminium plates front and back, it has never locked and works very well. Down sides? Well its a bit chunky and weights a bit (due to the hard drive) but in comparison to other MP3 players of a similar vintage it isn't bad, my biggest gripe is the interface software, although easy to use once its installed it is showing its age and is problematic if faced with Vista, I haven't tried it on Windows 7 but I have an old laptop running XP that works well. Why did I buy it? well Creative has always been a quality brand, anyone remember the AWE64 sound card? and they have a very good reputation for products. The main reason though is that I really dislike Apple and Ipods, you pay more to get less apart from the name and Itunes is annoying. So save your money buy a bit of retro chic and invest in a creative labs Zen.

Awesome camera, don't waste your money on new

I was looking for an upgrade to my existing deigital SLR camera, a Fuji S2 pro also bought from here. The Fuji uses Nikon lenses and kit so I was looking for either a Nion or newer Fuji camera. After a bit of searching and reading up on various models and checking prices what was available and in my price range was limited. The D2x is a fantastic camera, with it having the portrait grip and features like time lapse built in it has features that you would have to buy add ons for in other cameras. The Nikon Pro build quailty is beyond belief I have stated that it feels like it was built in the same production line as the terminator. The layout resembles the Fuji S2 pro in that as well as a great menu system a lot can be done by the command dials and external buttons, after a bit of use you change alter a lot of functions without having to take the camera from your eye and miss THE shot. For those of a smaller stature this camera might be a little large and heavy, for me its ideal, I have a proper handful of heavy well balanced camera allowing me to keep a solid grip. The only other thing that might happen is that you find your memory card suddenly fills up, unexpectedly, this is due to the burst rate of this phenomenal camera 5-8 frames a second depending on mode it beyond belief and where I have shot between 700 and 1000 pics at a one day festival with the old fuji I managed 800 at an evening gig without trying, so I recommend an 8Gb CF card or better, battery life looks amazing as well, after 800 pics the charge meter hadn't moved off full and it is very accurate, still allowing you to shoot when down on the last bar. Brilliant camera and lots of used items available for very good prices on Ebay. Brilliant camera. Update, after many thousands of shots, damp conditions, rain, cold, sleet and everythign else the camera is still going very strong. Excellent.
