Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar Tremolo
The Pulsar Tremolo pedal provides several nice features in a tremolo that does not take up a lot of space or add more weight to the pedal board. The Pulsar Tremolo has a depth control, a shape control, a rate control and wave shape switch. With the wave shape switch, a musician can switch between the wave triangle mode and the square wave mode. The shape knob changes the shape of the wave to provide a little more flexibility to the effect. The depth knob adjusts the amount of tremolo and the rate knob adjusts the speed of modulation for the effect. When the Pulsar Tremolo is off, the pedal will be in bypass mode. The rate control is really sensitive and will go from slow to crazy in a heartbeat. If you like verity in a tremolo effect and do not mind spending some time tweaking an effect pedal, then this pedal is for you. If want a simple tremolo effect that does not require micro tweaking, then save your hard earned $$$ and check out the Danelectro Cool Cat Series CT-1 Tremolo.

Marshall DSL401 Guitar Amp Combo 1x12
The Marshall DSL401combo 1x12 provide varying levels of church comparable to a stock JCM 800 that has not been modified, and the JCM 900. When the OD 2 channel is engaged you hear a 20db boost and you can get the old heavy metal sounds. The clean channel is good, not Fender good, but this is not a Fender amp. The clean channel does have a gain channel for the dirty sound. The reverb is so, so, but the I believe that most people interested in the JCM 2000 does not buy these amps for the reverb. If you want the modern metal sound, I recommend that you run your favorite metal pedal in front and then you delay, chorus, or similar pedals through effects loop in the back. There are two footswitches in back, one for clean, OD1 and OD 2, then the other footswitch is for the reverb. There are dual speaker jacks that can switch from 8Ohm to 16Ohm, so is you want to run a cabinet to get that big sound, the 40 watts of tub power that comes from 4 EC83 4 EL84 values. will take care of the job, for you small to medium venues. The amp comes is a Celestion custom 12" speaker works for me at this time, but I may switch it out down the road.

Boss DS-1 Distortion with the Keeley Seeing Eye and Ultra mods
I purchased a Boss DS-1 Distortion with the Keeley Seeing Eye and Ultra mods along with an added gain knob on the side of the pedal that allows me to fine tune the distortion. I played/tested the pedal through my tube amps, which are a Fender Super Sonic, Gibson GA-5, Gibson Goldtone GA-30RVS, Fender Tone Master, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Fender champion 600, Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401 and a Peavey Classic 20. I have one solid state amp and it is a Line 6 Flex Tone III. When my tube amps were set to play clean and I set the pedal to the DS-Ultra mode while the distortion is set to low or mid setting, the pedal set to DS-Ultra mode provided a nice warm usable sound that could be used for modern rock and classic rock tones. When I set the pedal to full distortion while set in the DS-Ultra mode, I personal felt it sound a little cold an harsh and it was not to my taste in distortion. When driving the amps with the pedal set to full distortion, the sound reminded me when I played in garage bands in the late 70’s/early 80’s as a teenager and it was hard to distinguish the different tones of the notes when playing leads. Man did I wish I used ear plugs back then. While it was fun to experiment while driving the amp with the pedal and a little nostalgic, I could never recommend using that setup for playing live or recording. When playing in the classic Seeing Eye mode with the distortion all the way up and the tube amp set to clean, the sound achieved was a nice saturated distortion for classic rock (not metal) sound. Guitars used were a Fender Deluxe USA, Fender Standard Tele USA, G&L Comanche USA, G&L ASAT Blues Boy USA, Gibson Les Paul Standard W/ Burstbuckers, Gibson ES-335 W/Duncan Antiquities and an ES-335 copy W/P-90’s.
