Awesome product: perfect performance and display
I bought the MacBook Pro 17" 2011 with quad core and SSD as a replacement for a MBP 15" 2009 with C2D CPU and HDD.
I just adore the performance of this new machine!
And the Full-HD display is definetly one of the best laptop computer displays I've ever seen
The only downside is the size and weight. Still adequate for the performance, it's just a bit to heavy and large to be carried around every day.
I upgraded this product from 4GB to 8GB of RAM - no problem
I installed a 512GB SSD (crucial m4) instead of the original 128GB model - this was a bit tricky, since I had to upgrade the MBP's firmware, install a TRIM-support for the SSD on 10.7 Lion, and finally upgrade the SSD's firmware to make it work smoothly - after all, an operation which I can only recommend to hardware nerds as I am.
