Great to use but frustrating & time consuming to set up
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Operation is excellent and the unit is very intuitive and easy to use. That is, once you get it set up. What the manufacturer does not tell you is that these units, in most cases, are NOT plug and play. They require firmware upgrades right out of the box and the upgrade process can be downright frustrating. You must first be sure you have a high speed internet connection and access.Upgrades will be next to impossible using dial up. I spent over three hours on-line and on the telephone with tech support to get the unit programmed and set to go. Tom Tom also "gave" me $200 worth of current map upgrades at no charge. Nice touch, but I would rather have seen them preloaded in the unit at the factory. Initially, I had problems getting the unit to funtion properly, but after firmware upgrades and assistance from tech support, it works like a champ. This one was purchased as a gift for Christmas. I also purchased a Garmin unit for a gift at the same time. The Garmin worked perfectly out of the box with no time spent upgrading on-line or trouble shooting. Performance of the two units is nearly identical. If I were faced with the choice again, I'd go Garmin every time, just to avoid the hassle and frustration of sorting out a unit that should have been set up correctly and tested at the factory.

Before Middle earth...
One of Peter Jackson's early films (he's the guy who brought Middle Earth to life in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and did a superb retelling of 1932's masterpeice "King Kong"). This is an average quality light hearted ghost film starring Michael J. Fox as a "Ghost Whisperer" style con man. The film is kind of a cross between "ghost Whisperer" and "Ghostbusters". Supporting actor John Astin (Gomez on TV's "The Addams Family") steals the show, however, as the ghost of an avenging judge who help's Fox's character run his con. The deal is: Astin and his cohorts "haunt" houses until Fox's character banishes them-for a fee. Some good laughs, but the sinsiter black spirit that is the plot of the show may be a little too frightening for the youngsters.

Ultimate DVD Experience
9 von 9 finden das hilfreich I had been wanting to upgrade to Hi Def DVD for some time, as many of the new DVD releases are now available in both Hi Def and Blu Ray format. Based on the advice of several coworkers who are very much into hi tech, I chose Samsung. It was very easy to install and set was minimal out of the box; pretty much plug and play.Picture quality cannot be described-it's just incredible. The only negative I can think of is that HDMI cables for hook up have to be purchased seperately and are quite expensive. Keep this in mind when evaluating the upgrade to Blu Ray. Other than that, I highly recommend doing so.
