A handy quick reference that prioritizes the basic principles of survival. The pocket guide provides a survival strategy and includes information on first aid, shelters, signaling, fire craft, navigation, edible plants, outdoor hazards and survival essentials. The laminated quintuple fold pocket guide measures 4 X 8.25 inches and can be folded in half as needed to fit inside a slip pocket of an EDC Pocket Organizer. My philosophy of use or purpose in purchasing this guide is for cross referencing or a means of a check list of the survival essentials in my survival kits and to provide a quick reference to the Air Visual Signal Code (distress signals). The printed instructions will also help focus my survival mindset during a stressful incident and can be used as a shield from wind and rain while making a fire. I maintain several different types of survival kits that are personalized and tailored to my operating environment and skill set. My EDC/Urban survival gear differs from the kit I would carry while trekking in the backcountry but share the same core components of survival essentials. Make your kit or gear work well for you, rather than you trying to adapt to a piece of gear or kit. Develop the proper mindset and have a plan along with basic preparation; this will go a long way in reducing anxiety and maintaining a calm disposition which is half the battle in a survival situation.
