Great camera but additional equipment required for digital archiving.

However, my only gripe is that it looks like it may prove very difficult to transfer footage from the Hi8 tapes to my computer via the cameras USB port. The required software doesn't seem to be available any longer and it doesn't seem to run on anything more recent than Windows XP. Additionally, even if you manage to track the software down and install it, the USB port is USB 1.0, which doesn't provide the kind of transfer rates you need for smooth, seemless playback of the footage.
