Great holiday book for children and adults
Very good book about holidays that take place around the world in the winter season. Details are given about each holiday: why it is celebrated, customs, crafts, and foods. Authentic recipes are included along with crafts to make yourself. The pictures and hands on learning would make it great for kids. Printed in the late 70's to early 80's so pictures are a bit old, but still interesting.

Wonderful Educational Book for Children
This is a wonderful educational book for children. It is eye-catching and captivating, fun and intersting, full of illustrations and short, but important bits of information that won't bore a child. A wonderful way to introduce your children to the great explorers of history. I had ordered Hammonds "My First Atlas" as well, which is a great illustrated introduction to geography and cultures of the world. I am impressed enough with these books that I went ahead and ordered two more in this set: The Animal Atlas and The Space Atlas. Hammond has some winners here. Enjoy them with the child you love!

Decent book, Too much information for an introduction
I had seen this book at the library and thought it would be a great addition to our homeschool for my elementary aged children. But once I started reading it with my children I found that, while there are many illustrations, my children were not captivated by it. The text was sometimes boring and gave too much information for an introduction. An older child who really likes facts might enjoy it though. I may just keep it for my kids to browse. But I ended up finding some other books that were perfect: Hammond My First Atlas, Kingfisher First Picture Atlas, Children Just Like Me, and Geography Songs (Troxel). These books are making a wonderful geography and culture study for us. I also picked up "Children Just Like Me: Celebration" about celebrations around the world, which I'm excited to use as we continue our studies.
