Horrible remake of a classic horror movie!
Bad acting, low budget, bad special effects, what's not to like? The answer is everything. If you're going to remake a horror movie, then you should at least have some horror in it. The only horror I felt was that after the movie was over I realized I spent three bucks renting it. The movie features a few television actors and not much else. For anyone who missed the original John Carpenter classic I would recommend you pick that movie up instead. The original movie was written and directed by John Carpenter while he was in his movie making prime. The musical score is also classic spooky John Carpenter and adds a feel to the movie that only he can deliver. With the introduction by Oscar Winner John Houseman and solid performances by Jamie Lee Curtis and Adrienne Barbeau, the original movie is a must for any horror fan.

Average Lord of the Rings Game best suited for newer players
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowhip of the Ring was released on the PS2 platform in 2002. It was "the Official Game" and was distributed by Surreal Software known for some of their Legend of Zelda games. This LOTR version starts with Gandalf first arriving in the shire and ends with the destruction of the 'one ring' in Mount Doom. As a fan of the books and movies I purchased the game hoping for an adult RPG but was somewhat disappointed with the purchase. The graphics are pretty good and some of the story lines are interesting, however, the gameplay is very simple. To an experienced gamer this release will be easy to beat and holds little replay value. The sound and weak voice overs, not done by the movie's actors, were also forgettable. LOTR Fellowhip really shows it's age and the PS2's limitations. LOTR Fellowship will be attractive to hard core LOTR fans but few others. It's best suited for beginning level gamers or children. As I stated earlier some of the story lines like the barrow downs and Tom Bombadil were interesting to see but others just seem to go on forever. For a better PS2 LOTR game try Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. Great graphics, movie character voice overs, and a fast paced story line make this a game that still holds up today against many of the PS3 releases.

"Ha Ha! Look, the giant chicken is Boba Fett!"
Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside was released December 22, 2009 on Blu-Ray and DVD. "Something" is the second installment in the Star Wars Parody Series and follows the story line of Empire Strikes Back. For fans of the Family Guy series this is the long awaited sequel to Blue Harvest which followed the New Hope story. With Chris as Luke, Lois as Leia, Peter as Han, and Stewie as Darth, the cast sets off in another Seth MacFarlane adventure. Let's cover the good parts first. The best part of this fifty four minute movie is the animation. Any fan of Star Wars or Family Guy will appreciate how much work went into animating "Something". Added to this is the excellent John Williams musical score and MacFarlane at times copying Empire almost scene to scene and shot to shot. It's obvious that McFarlane and his team are fans, as is also obvious from his numerous Star Wars references in the regular series. The additions of Mort Goldman as Lando Calrissian and Ernie the giant chicken as Boba Fett were also nice touches. There's also some laugh out loud scenes like the Cookie Monster attacking Luke on Hoth. The writers taking shots at Empire's plot holes was also brilliant: "we're evacuating into outer space with literally infinite directions to flee however we have decided that our transports will head directly towards the fleet of Star Destroyers." Now for the bad, or at least questionable. Carl, the convenience store manager, is a pretty annoying character to begin with and for me was a horrible choice as Yoda. The attack on Echo Base by the Imperial Walkers was also a big miss. Pregnant Walkers, Walkers wearing Crocs, no thanks, no thanks. Calling the Ion Cannon "giant boob nipple gun" was the saving grace of that sequence. Also, some of the profanity seemed forced, the racist jokes unneeded, and the homosexual theme is really getting tired. The extras include commentary by Seth Macfarlane, among others, some table reads, and Family Guy Fact Ups which get pretty annoying pretty quickly. The included digital copy is a definite plus for I-Pod users etc and is only inlcuded in the Blu-Ray edition and not the standard DVD release. Something, Something, Something Darkside is funny without a doubt. Macfarlane and his team did another great job bringing fans of Family Guy and Star Wars another movie. But with every laugh out loud line there's another line that just falls flat. "Something" is absolutely worth seeing but after watching it you get the feeling that it could have been so much better.
