Great Value
Why buy one when you get can get four of them for the same price? I've been purchasing the higher priced units for years only to have the same point of failure each time - the brass terminal arcs and then breaks.
These units come with the same terminals as the high priced ones but at a much lower price. You can remove the broken terminal connectors from the higher priced ceramic terminal blocks and just insert these in their place and it will work just fine!

Simple design built on a little known Barker Aircraft design
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich In researching desulfators, I came across this auction and decided to have a go as this design seems to be more robust than the other one found on e-bay.
Through my research on the subject, I would suggest the following modifications as you build this:
1. According to the original design by Barker Aircraft, C1 should be rated for a least 63V as the spikes go to 60V. I was supplied with a 50V capacitor. I replaced mine with a 100V unit. The higher rated capacitor should cut down potential failures
2. If you do replace 100 uf (C1) capacitor, try to find a lower ESR one - the lower the ESR, the higher the voltage spike. When comparing the ESR of the supplied 50V capacitor and the 100V replacement, the 100V was 1/4 the ESR of the 50V.
3. Don't use the enclosed wire that connects to the alligator clips. Replace both with a thicker gauge and one that is as short as possible. I mounted screw terminals on mine and used 14/2 (14 gauge two conductor) to heavy duty alligator clips. The thicker the gauge, the higher the voltage spike. One forum thread stated that they found an increase of 10V just by going to the thicker gauge wire.
4. As another poster mentioned, the included inductor doesn't fit on the board as is. I decided to solder a small wire to one of the leads so that I can lay the inductor down on the board and then fastened it to the board with some hot glue.
I just finished building it so I don't know how well it works. But I did do the AM radio test, and found that it does interfere with the radio when plugged in (which is what it's supposed to do) and I did measure a small increase in the battery voltage when the desulfator was connected and plugged in over the battery being at rest.

For the price, it's not bad!
I expected a dumb 18650 charger for this price so that I can put a small charge in Lith-ion batteries that were below 3V. I was surprised that there's a bit of smarts in this charger so that it won't actually charge anything below a certain threshold!
I took the charger apart to see what's in there and while the charger works, the quality is not great but then again look at the price. I had to resolder one of the A/C power connectors as it was coming loose and while I was at it, I repositioned another wire so that it won't get pinched during reassembly.
