A Prosumer Camera Worthy of Notation
I have 2 of these cameras at work that I use for documentary style filming of local talent in presentation and teaching venues. With having read the recent information on the XH A1s, (we are considering purchasing 2 additional cameras) and the differences between the A1 and the A1s are so minimal, that we feel that even at the same cost, it's basically not necessary. In our que of cameras, we use a an XL 1s, an XL 2 and two XH A1. We have numerous years of Canon experience and have yet to be completely dissapointed. Anyone can read any of these 5 star ratings and see that this is a great camera, and see all the specs as to why it backs its genre as a prosumer middleweight. Sub $5000 it has nice features. Namely I will say a top feature off the GL/GL2 I do like is the iris ring in addition to the zoom and focus. Much easier to adjust than the menu wheel... I will inform ANYONE reading this, PLEASE: if you indend to use your camera as synced source multi-cam setup for live shoot, don't get the A1. Don't waste time, don't waste your money, and get the XH G1. Only stupid people would try and make the A1 do these things, and the cost differences between the G1 and A1 are trivial. Also, if you intend to "shoulder" this camera, you can't. It's too small, and you'd need the XL H1 for that. It just boils down to READING the specs and buying the right camera, not the cheapest. We use Sony Vegas PRO 8.0/8.1 on Dell Presicion machines using Vista 64bit and Vista 32bit. Initially the Canon does not speak to Sony on 24p or 24f in HDV mode. Why? Don't know but since Canon doesn't seem to be making headway, it appears that the issue may be attended to in Vegas 9 PRO. I have had years of experience with Avid, and FCP and Premier Pro, and sorry guys, I'll take the heat now, Vegas works wonders, and the 32bit float editing works great in SD with this camera. Again our venue of film is documentary, non-stylistic. We are most interested in extremely accurate color capture and this camera works well doing so. As it states, its a 1080i HDV camera which personally makes me wonder why their not attempting to compete with Sony's HVRV1U which is in this same class and 1080p. As usual, the onboard mic isn't really suitable for much, and we have replaced it with Sennheiser's ME66/K6P shotgun in tandum with the Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 lavalier system. Phantom power had never failed, and we use a hotshoe extender to mount the Canon VL-10Li II on each camera. Thats a pretty good ammount of accessories on a documentary camera. I trust this camera to work every time I take it out of the bag. Would it be nice to have a larger LCD, sure, but look at how much it costs? Would it be nice to have 1080p? Yes, and I would expect to see this in the next iterations of Canon's cameras. Is it a great, small, light-weight, high quality camera? Yep! Overall, I would buy another one? Sure! Would I buy another one over the Sony? Not sure as I haven't ever played with one... :-)

For 306 Aquos Crystal Zebra Skin/Tropical Teal TUFF Hybrid Phone Protector Cover

TUFF Hybrid Phone Protector Cover For 306 Aquos Crystal
More expensive than the Case-Mate Slim Tough-case but built better. Although it's bulkier, the silicon in placed better on this case. There aren't many choices now for the Sharp SH306 Aquos Crystal, but the TUFF Hybrid case is a good one to use. I've placed a couple of drops of superglue on the case closure points to ensure it doesn't come apart. This is OKAY for this phone, because of it's modular battery design, a child should never need to enter the inside of the phone, unless the SD card were to fail, which is a parental thing anyway.

Great Bang for the Buck
This is our main living room television. We are kindof a minimalist family, so there's no cable TV in our house, but we have strapped a set of Walmart 52dB HDTV bunny-ears up to the TV and come up with some surprising results! Purchased about two years ago, the TV was a tax return present! Yeah... Thanks Uncle Sam. Or something like that. Anywho, Best Buy has a special going on where we paid $650 I think for the 32" and 2 years ago that was something to rave about. So we got it, brought it home, unwrapped it. Plugged it in. Plugged in some more. "Dad, are you done yet?" Masterpiece was ready. Being a technologist, my family is burdened with having to put up with me. So here is how OUR path works. After months of research, I decided to run as much through our computer as humanly possible. SO this being said, movies come through the DVD player in the computer, into the RGB (VGA to some) on the computer. It is essentially "monitor 2" as my computer sees it. Works flawlessly; and with Cyberlink DVD's EagleVision the color correction is great. Colors look good, high motion doesn't pixelated in an overly annoying manner and overall just what we wanted GREAT picture, for Lady and the Tramp. In the Component input we have PS2 games, that look so oddly stunning, GT4 too fun. In the AV input, we have a tether to my camera which allows me to see the pictures for a quick glance on the big screen, or whatever else may need to get plugged in. HDMI is not currently used, however my family has brought over the PS3 and, A HA! Assassin's Creed comes to life. Let alone the crispness of the BlueRay!! Sound is fine, most are probably going to use a stereo receiver and never use the speakers anyway. It's what we do, and the TV speakers are seldom used. I pump the sound out using the great TOSLINK or LightPipe or SPDIF or whatever you call it output to a digital input on my receiver. In our town we currently receive 8 or 9 broadcast HD channels. They are clear, and football on NBC is thrilling to watch in HD. So again are my home movies shot with my HD camera. The blacks might be able to be a bit more dark, but in the guise that I have spent a smaller amount than most on a 32" widescreen, I'd say that I'm satisfied. On the negative, the only odd thing this TV does is freeze. Occasionally, it may appear that a channel has lost its signal, however the TV never recovers. The remote function dies as well as the buttons on the TV itself. The only recovery is "rebooting" the TV (power out of the wall and back in). It's only happened a handfull of times in 2 years, but still, its always when the plot thickens. Who plans this stuff?? I wish it had a DVI input instead of just RGB. I wish it could do Picture In Picture. I wish it had a USB built into the side. However, will I enjoy the 60,000 claimed lamp hours? Yes. Are Lady and the Tramp life size? Yes. In all practicality, it's a great TV a great price, and even consumer reports put it in the top 10 for 32" TVs (7th place and a CR pick). If that doesn't say something I don't know what does.
