As always, a great deal from DS Camera! Thanks Daryl.
This is a great lens. The FOV wide open is just great. The small size of the lens itself lends itself well to use on my a7 with the LAE4 Adapter.

Still a great camera after all of these years!
I have recently started shooting film again with some pro-sumer type cameras and have found the Minolta Maxxum 5000 a sound camera, when you can get a good well kept one! The item I found appeared to be in great condition and except for the Sigma lens that it came with, is turning out to be a favorite of mine for simplicity of use and the great throwback look that film in an older camera gives to pictures. The camera feels solid in your hand, albeit a bit heavier than some other prosumer cameras that I have used. But the weight is welcome and helps in balancing some of the longer zoom lenses! If you don't have large hands, or if you prefer light cameras then this one is not for you unless you want a bit of a work out :) I find that the Program mode for this camera, with lenses from the same era (1985) work wonderfully! The camera is very easy to use in this Mode and the rolls of film that I have shot through it in Program have come out well-exposed when using both the 35-70mm f/4 and the 70-210mm f/4. I have also had some good results using the 70-210mm f3.5 RS. I also love that the simplicity of using the buttons on either side of the camera for shutter speed and aperture when in Manual mode! I love the dials on my Maxxum 7, but this system also works well and is intuitive with a little practice. All in all, for someone looking to shoot some film and perhaps learn a little about taking the time to compose and review before just shooting and deleting, the Minolta Maxxum 5000 is a great amateur/enthusiast camera. I cannot wait to practice with it daily, and now I need to find a flash unit and a AA battery holder to make it easier to handle!! If you can find a good example of this wonderful camera, you can't go wrong in getting it.
