The most important feature was the 20:1 zoom allowing outdoor events such as graduation to be 'live streamed' on the Web without having the camera position in the line of sight for the audience in attendance.
It has more than lived up to its reputation. Clean clear video and audio. The flexibility of both audio and video inputs and outputs is a key factor as well. The operational learning curve, while not simple, is not so complicated that it is impossible for non-video people to understand.
All in all a professional camera and well built camera for a reasonable price.
