Review based on long-term usage of X2x0 versions of Thinkpad family.
I have a same box as work computer, working reliable within 4 years (no issues at all). High build quality, easy servicable and replacable parts, high impact magnesium chasses. Keyboard which tolerate water or coffe during rough travel conditions. Size is small, but performance is just perfect (extra when you run SSD+ replace Windows with Unix OS).
Toutchpad is just middle-class, but its disables as I use button+keys or mouse. HD IPS display is perfect, better is just Dell X13 or X15 with Retina.
Travel adapter+docking are a must for every travelling commute. Keyboard was better layout in X220 versions, but now typing is more robust, just layout is bad. So basically programming is better with external keyboard + big 4K monitor. Build in Intel GPU is just desktop video, good for playback + desktop, I dont recommend for any extra video activities (like Sony Vegas etc).
