iMac 21.5" 3.06 GHz rocks the house
This is the third one of these machines that I have purchased for a member of my family. They are beautifully executed, easy to set up and use, and very low maintenance. My family members have taken to them likes ducks to water. All were former windoze users, but have enjoyed using Macs. My brother-in-law who is a musician by hobby, appreciates all of the music-related things that can be done easily on the Mac. He has told me that he could have done them on his windoze machine, but it would have required hardware upgrades costing a few hundred dollars. With the Mac, he bought a $50 piece of software and a $25 connector. My brother is an amateur (although he would take issue and say professional) photographer. His most pressing need has always been organizing his hobby. His Mac, with iPhoto (I told you he's an amateur), permits him to categorize, organize, and catalog his hobby. He has some 30,000 digital images that he has taken, and the Mac and iPhoto permit him to produce CDs, DVDs, and books that he sends to friends and family. My sister-in-law is a radiologist, and has been impressed by the clarity of the imaging on the Mac, and how many native tools exist for her work. This machine fits a wide range of users and does it well. Comparatively, a Mac will cost less over time, deliver a better user experience, with less frustration.

Very nice frog, some warts
This is my second Panasonic cordless phone set, the first being a KX-TG238 2.4 GHz model. I bought the first set for two reasons: 1) I saw one at my mother's house and it seemed to have a good set of features, and 2) it had a NiMH battery. The second feature (NiMH battery) was the primary selling point for me and the KX-TG670 continues this excellent feature. It is very nice to be able to put the handset in the charging cradle no matter the current charge state. I am not sure why cordless phone manufacturers still insist on utilizing NiCd batteries. The service life is shorter and there are memory issues. The other big selling point on this phone for me was the ability to handle two separate phone lines, both at the base station and on the handsets. On the handset you have soft-keys below the larger display to choose between Line 1 and Line 2. This capability extends to the voicemail greetings and checking. It is also possible to conference both lines together. The speakerphone features of the KX-TG238 are continued in the TG670, but are extended to the base station as well. I expected ONLY the handsets to do the dirty work, but the base station is a fully-featured speakerphone too. BONUS!!! Additionally, the TG670 will accept up to eight handsets, compared to the TG238 with three. When I was growing up in a house with six kids, eight handsets might have been useful. I think most households will get by with two handsets for the TG670, especially with the BONUS! mentioned above. The usable distance of the KX-TG670 handsets away from the base station is shorter, as expected. Generally speaking, at equivalent power levels the higher frequency-range signals will not propagate as far. So, where I was able to use the 2.4 GHz handset on the third floor of the apartment building, with the base station on the first floor; the 5.8 GHz handset barely makes it out of my apartment. I expected shorter range going into the purchase, but this might be a bit on the short side. Some annoyances still remain from the TG238: There is Caller ID and a Missed Call list but if the same person calls more than once, only the last call time is kept with a multiplier designation next to the number (e.g., x2, x3, etc.). So, if you were gone for a week and your mother called eight times, you would know that but not whether all calls were on the same day, one per day, or anything about the call history - except that it was multiple times. The Redial feature is still anemic at five numbers, and some of the on-screen menus are strangely organized. And one new annoyance has been introduced: Both phone have a compass-style navigation button on the phone (Up, Down, Left, Right). With the TG238 you would press the Function key to get into the control menus and then you navigate Up and Down the menu structure, and then Select or Back up (Right and Left) with the same navigation button. For some reason, with the TG670 they have decided to utilize the Soft Keys to present the user with a "Select" choice, but only for some features. Other features retain the Left and Right select with navigation button. Overall, this is a good solid phone set. If Panasonic were to iron out a fews bumps, it could be a great handset.
