You will not be disappointed!
A superb album from this talented young man - Joe McElderry. He has certainly come a long way since he first appeared on the reality show 'X Factor'and stood out with what I thought was an amazing voice for one so young; something good has come from that programme - something I never thought I would be saying!He had a good voice then but, technically he has come matured and I think Pop Star to Opera Star helped with that vocal process.
As to the Album itself. A great selection of songs have been chosen. I daresay Joe had great difficulty in choosing what to go on to this album.
Joe McElderry displays his vocal range magnificently though I do feel that perhaps a couple of the songs could have been raised slightly - perhaps a semitone higher just to take him out of the very bottom vocal range which I feel a little uncomfortable with, but that is a personal thought. He has good control of the Italian language - not sure he speaks Italian or whether it was learned rote fashion. One expects on an album of this kind to hear the song that stole the PS2OS - "Nessun Dorma". BBeautiful control displaying his breathing and bel canto technique. I like his arrangement of "Over The Rainbow" which I first heard on 'Glee'.
There a wonderful mix of 'classical' and 'popular ballad' on this album and the mix fits perfectly. Something the Producer/Arranger must have taken into consideration with Joe at the time of the recordings.
I could go on but I feel you, the buyer, should decide for yourself which are your favourites on this remarkable album. What I can say to all you avid fans of Joe or the music itself, you will not be disappointed in having this album in your collection.
Maybe there is another album in the pipeline to surpass this one. I can see him performing some more great "classics" that have survived the years and become part of the standard repertoir. It would be great to hear some 30s & 40s songs - even Mario Lanza songs.
