Lightweight shows its age
0 von 4 finden das hilfreich I'm afraid this was't what I expected. As a comedy, it is now quite lame. The gags don't work anymore for the most part. It is a sweet film, but its wit has long faded. It is always nice to see Kennet More at work, but he alone cannot work a miracle. Also nice to see Joyce Grenfell, but it was too little a part to make any difference on the whole.

The voice of God
In parts, something close to voice of God, as in Laudate Dominum of the Vesperae Solene de Confessore, but mostly at the Laudate Dominum of the Vesperae de Donenica. Together with the much more well known Ave Verum Corpus these and other works by Mozart, Bach, and some others may be what one would like to show to an alien planet people's embassy as examples of the greatest achievements of Humanity.

Interesting film from "All about Eve" director.
There's the director, there's the cast and there's the production style of the era. And then, there is the way the story comes out, passing through all these combined assets. And it comes out very well. The comparison with "All about Eve" must not be too stressed, however, because, hélas, master pieces don't come by the dozen. The most outstanding common factor to the two films being perhaps how the word carries the story and - even more so in "All about Eve" - how the word is almost the whole story. But "A Letter to Three Wives" and "All about Eve" are also examples of the difference that do exist between the verbs "to talk" and "to say" (a subtlety sadly forgotten in the Portuguese spoken in Brazil).
