SASQUATCH MOUNTAIN NEW DVD
06. Apr 2016
The video quality fo the DVD is nto quite right...
I didn't answer the above questions about the "art" of the movie (entertainment value, characters, etc.) -- I'm not a movie critic (don't care) so I'm only addressing here the "mechanics" of the DVD...how it was recorded on/to the DVD... The video has "lines" in it whenever there's motion/action, as it's not smooth and clear as I was expecting. I don't know if the DVD was coded poorly, with a less-than-adequate codec or what, but even ripping the DVD to an MKV file still shows serious "lines" in movement and only go away when there is NOT movement. So while the DVD is of higher video quality than other copies I've seen, I'm not sure how it was coded (codec used) and if THAT would account for the less than high-quality video. It MIGHT look better played from a TV set (haven't done that yet), but on my PC, the "lines" (kind of like "hatch-marks" if you will) I'm talking about are VERY evident during motion/movement of the characters.

DVD wouldn't Open/Play but still could be ripped successfully...
For some reason, the DVD would not play/open when I slicked on it -- have no idea why. But since I wanted to rip the DVD into MKV files and save them to my HD for more ease of use/access, I went ahead and did that and they came out just fine. Never did find out why a standard/commercially-available DVD would not "Play" when I tried to do so. Never had that happen before -- and I have Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player and Nero Media Hub on my PC --- none would open it. Weird. OTHERWISE, I am pleased with the DVD and the quality of my ripped MKV files (1.34 to 1.61 GB each in size) as all 17 episodes look at least as good as they did on TV when Season 5 of Charlie's Angels were originally airing.
