Great for a now-ancient gaming system - good for nostalgia or first-timers!
It's crazy to think that this system was released when I was a kid in elementary! Gameplay is fairly straight forward and easy to get the hang of. The connectivity aspect with the Gamecube is definitely a plus, particularly with the Pokémon games (hey, I love my fossil Pokémon). The one negative to handheld games from this era is the lack of a backlight, so you have to play in fairly direct light. Simple solutions are to use outside light or to find a lamp.

1 von 1 finden das hilfreich What the GBA lacked, the SP delivers - namely the presence of a backlight so that you can actually see what you're doing. The Gamecube compatibility of the GBA is continued in the SP, a feature that was lost in the DS. The game selection is quite good, considering the SP is capable of playing games from the GBA and earlier Gameboy systems. When playing, though, it's necessary to remember that this is technology from 2003, a decade ago. You don't have the crisp sound or the smoother graphics of, say, the 3DS or an iPhone, but you do get something which was revolutionary at the time.

Good product and a good selection of Pokémon to catch and train

The mode of play allows some variety in play style - whether a catch 'em all approach or quickly knocking out the main opponents. There are also several puzzles within the game which add a bit of variety to the standard Pokémon battles.
The compatibility with other GBA Pokémon games as well as the Gamecube games allows the possibility of increased gameplay and strategy possibilities.
The main downer is that certain items required to reach the areas to catch some of the legendary Pokémon were only distributed through promotional events and are no longer available to the public. Though not necessary for the main game play, it feels as if you aren't being allowed access to the full content of the game.
NOTE TO BUYERS: All official Leaf Green games should be a nearly-opaque, light green color. Anything else is a fake and bootleg / pirated, will lose save data, and be incompatible when connecting to other games. If the seller does not provide actual quality photos, be advised that there is no way to tell whether the item is real or fake.
