Duran Duran still have it!!!
being born in the eighties, i grew up with a lot of music that have influenced my music tastes today. one of them was Duran Duran, and i still think they were and still are one of the best bands to ever make it to the charts, and this live dvd goes to prove they still have the power to pack a venue. Filmed live in London in 2006, they perform some of their popular hits like Rio, Wild Boys and their Bond theme A View To A Kill (which has never been on one of their own albums, just the soundtrack to said film and single) along with some of their material from their then new album, Astronaut, like What Happens Tomorrow, Astronaut and (Reach Up For The) Sunrise. In the Deluxe set you also get a live cd of the same concert which is just as excellent and a pair of 3d glasses for the special 3d section in the special features on the Dvd. A smart little package all round, i think. I bought it because i fancied catching the concert, not being able to see it first time round, and i was not disappointed. An absolute essential for the Duran Duran fan, like me. get it now and you'll be guaranteed some fine music.

A MUST!!!
When this was released, i thought 'nah! cant better the actual music cd.' But, I bought it anyway. And was I wrong!!! It actually captured the atmosphere of the cd fantastically. This is the version Steven Spielburg SHOULD have brought to the screen, Jeff Wayne score intact an all! They even brought back Richard Burton (even though his face was projected onto a huge sculpture hanging from the ceiling. Still excellent!). The return of Justin Heywood singing FOREVER AUTUMN and THE CHANCES OF ANYTHING COMING FROM MARS.... he hasn't lost his haunting voice one bit! Still as excellent as ever, it is a must and the perfect companion piece for any WOTW fan. But Still, They Come........

WAR OF THE WORLDS. An absolute cracker
The Chances Of Anything Coming From Mars, Are A Million To One, He Said... The Chances Of Anything Coming From Mars, Are A Million To One.... But Still...They Come........ I first heard this round my mates house a few years ago. He dug out his dads lp, and we sat there, listening. Atmospheric, beautiful and haunting all at the same time, War of the Worlds is a must. The late, great Richard Burton brings an air to it unheard of. A perfect choice for the voice of the narrator. I couldnt imagine anyone else doing this. it wouldn't be the same. Jeff Wayne has thought up some of the most excellent choices of music types for this. From Rock guitar to a quiet, chilling harp, he sets the mood brilliantly. And when you hear the heat ray....sends chills down the spine. It doesn't sound like a guitar at all. Really excellent. David Essex as the artilleryman is just...well....another brilliant choice. I only just managed to buy the digi-pack double cd of the full edition and it doesn't disappoint, especially in crystal clear audio. This format was made for this album. You get the full intensity of the martian's 'UUUULLLAAAA' cry blaring through your stereo or tv speakers. If you get the chance, buy the live dvd too. an absolute must as a visual companion to the cd. Words cant describe it. Four words for you.... GO......BUY......IT......NOW!!!!!
